The surgery went well but postop not so well. I ended up with an infection. Laid me low. I am still recovering. The air pocket has not filled so I still do not have vision in my left eye. I should have vision within a few weeks. Both eyes have been lazed to stop any future ruptures. So good news...

Fantastic news! There was a cancelation so I will have my surgery next Tuesday! Pre-op is tomorrow. I am stoked. There is nothing like losing your sight to really appreciate what you have. This time next week I should be well on the road to a full recovery. Thanks again for all the well wishes...

I just went and looked at my paperwork and you are correct. A vitrectomy is exactly what I am getting. But I was told that they leave the area empty and let the eyes system fill the pocket with clear fluid. Very interesting stuff when you are clinical about it. But scarey when it is happening to...
