Problem solved it was the ram chips again, :D Thanks to my atari xl800 with its built in memory tester i was able to test all the chips i removed and found 3 faulty ram chips in the spectrum 128.

The zx spectrum 128 is no longer needed please close this thread, i`ve decided to fix the mainboard.

I`ve decided to fix my 128k spectrum plus 2, now this time its got a black screen, Now i`ve checked all the voltages around the mainboard and they all check out right, So i`m thinking its going to be the ram. Now i have a atari xl 800 that does a memory check plus i`ve replaced the atari xl 800...

As Bryce stated i replaced all of the caps on the zx spectrum mainboard, i will try to put up a picture soon with the zx spectrum after the recap.

Just to update everyone on the spectrum lines around the border fault, i replaced all the capacitors on the motherboard and this fixed the problem. I did buy the nebula and fitted that first to find this did not remove the lines in the border so that not fixing the problem i decided to replace...

wanted Motherboard for the 128k spectrum +2, i`ve managed to destroy the motherboard in my spectrum 128 +2 and was wondering if anyone had a good clean working motherboard that they wanted to sell to bring my spectrum back to life. Thankyou for reading.

I fitted the Super Pla ages ago, but thanks for the information.

I never got around to programming a smooth scroll, but i did manage to program a machine code scroll right down at the bottom of the screen. I used the action replay Mrk6 i think, I`m guessing by the code some are listing in this thread your using some kind of emulator. It would have been great...

aah i see, i`m on his page now and he has none in stock at the moment. So is everyone sure its the ULA chip before i order a new replacement, or am i taking a 50/50 that is the problem.
