And yes, it is rechargeable just like the original :)

Then my apologies to all, I believed it was suitable :( I'll go check the specs. Can someone suggest a replacement instead? (edit: FWIW I initially took my information from a thread on Amiga.org entitled 'Apollo 1240 battery & fan questions' where stachu had done a similar thing. I'm sure the...

A VL2020 is good - needs a little care to mount it properly but works perfectly. :)

I need an expert to lead my investigation :)

It would be easy to try some decoupling first - that would mean adding a specific capacitor between the power rail (5v) and ground at the Apollo end. Might be a simple thing to test before shortening the cable. Maybe someone else can suggest a better way of going about it, but perhaps just a...

Decoupling (2) sounds good and is nice and easy to try - got to be worth a go :)

That's great news Rod!! I guess the bus is perhaps solid enough to cope with what you're asking of it, fingers crossed. And FWIW I've learned a fair bit too, so my thanks to you and the others for that :D It should help me a lot with future projects :) :) I'll look forward to hearing how you...

@eslapion - I really wish I had your knowledge! :) Just to clarify, when you say termination do you mean pull-up and/or pull-down resistors at each end - is it that straightforward? Also, what process would you use given the good scope etc. to arrive at the necessary values? Thought...

If only digital electronics were as simple as a good power supply :) Looks like its time to get the oscilloscope out and see what's going on - or you could go ahead and start shielding stuff, and adding extra grounds between signal wires to reduce noise. Failing that, maybe you'll need to...

    Hello ...

Hello Marcos! What's your main interest? Mine is the Commodore Amiga - I've owned them since I was 12 :) I hope you'll have lots of fun here! Welcome to Amibay :D

FWIW I experienced something similar with an old 1200 with worn edge connector - with the card fully inserted poor contact was made at the 12v end. Check your connections and meter the card's 12v rail again Rod :) It should be there! I can't see how an absence of 12v would make the card work in...

Ah... I bow to your knowledge and withdraw my statement!! :o Buffers are good :) :) FWIW I know the Apollos never worked with certain extenders/busboards - maybe due to the electrical changes they caused.

I agree with both previous posters regarding adding extra grounds, as mentioned in your original thread. It's got to be worth trying especially since there are known noise issues. If power's OK and good grounding & shielding doesn't work, and you've tried a shorter cable run, you're in the...

    Who Remembers Apricot Computers

The first Apricot I ever saw was in a stack of vintage (now, not then!) ex-work machines in an programmer's storage caravan in the early 90s - I got the impression they were a nice alternative to IBMs at the time ;)

You're welcome, I'm only sorry I can't assist you more. Maybe stachu could help? I know he sometimes looks at Zorro cards. If not hopefully there's someone here who specialises in this type of testing/repair...
