Slide that in behind the keys. it stops them from wobbling about too much. I took mine apart to have a look inside and saw the same piece of plastic and its a perfect fit to go long ways vertically behind the 4 control keys. Yours must have slipped out from behind them during shipping.

I found this forum looking on google for a way to emulate the datasette. I was recently given a commodore 64 C with the long board, and a 1541-II (which didn't work - burnt out heads), so I bought another working unit off ebay. Found the tapuino and plan on building one of those since I am handy...
