Hi im downgrading to an 030 processor for better compatability (want my whdload demos to work) from an 040. But have noticed in the libs directory there is an 68040.library file will that have to be changed to a 68030.library and if so where do i find this file as there isnt one on the OS3.9 Cd.:help:
Also will any other files need to be changed.
I'm pretty sure you won't need to change any files, sometimes I fit my 030 cpu's to my 040/060 Amiga's and I never have to change anything, you only actually (in my experience) need libs for 060 cards.Quote:

Indeed, you don't need '030 libraries. '040 and '060s need extra software support, but that's not the case of the '030. Hope that helps! :-)
And the "magic" on superior CPU (040 & above) is done by SETPATCH, which will realize which CPU you are using and patch it accordingly by the 68040.library (or its dummy brother to jump to 68060.library).
030 CPU & downwards doesn't require patching.
Whoot postman came today with my A3400 card so rushed over to The miggy took out the A3640 and plugged in the new card switched on and nothing happened.
So after lots of head scratching saw some jumpers on mb for int/ext clk speed and thought ah thats it (my first A4000 btw) still got my a1200 from new ^^ so know that inside out, but a bit of a noob on a4000. Anyways swapped the jumpers to int turned on the a4000 and sweet it booted to workbench.
10 minutes later the screen froze no mouse movement just wouldnt do anything so tried to reboot the power light flashed very fast for a bit and nada just a black screen:mad:.
Ok started to panick thinking i killed the 4000 so quickly turned it of put the A3640 back in swapped the jumpers to ext clk an big whoop she lives:thumbsup:
So it seems i got ripped from good old fleabay or soming has gone on my mb, only fault i know of on my mb is the hd light wont flash i know the led is ok as i swapped it to the power one.
So it seems a bit of help i need please, i also noticed the a3400 doesnt come with a crystal is that normal (if it did i could test it on ext/clk i guess
If the board is knackered anyone selling one :)
The power light flashing and caps lock flashing are startup error codes etc.
What are the sequences?
Plus if you seriously want to buy another card - you must put up a wanted thread - as per the site rules :thumbsup:

Hi Well i dont get any sequences now with that card inserted the power light just stays on an thats it well the hd still spins up and the screen is black doing a soft reset still gives no sequences.
What about the caps lock light?
