My dads A2000 has a zorro II memory card with 8mb populated and a separate gvp controller for the scsi. Would the system see 10Mb in total if I replaced the gvp controller with yours ?

No, it wouldn't: Zorro II can adress a maximum of 8MB Fast Ram. You would need to remove 2MB from either the GVP controller or the existing 8MB card. Not much use to you I think!
