WEIRD Workbench problem!?!

This is an odd one.

I now have Workbench 3.9 set up on this a4000 (running ks 3.9 roms). I am running the latest version of P96 on a Spectrum 24 card.

I am using Ken Icons (the 256 colours ones, not the png ones) and as such I dont have powericons installed.

Anyway, the problem is this. When I right click on a volume and select format, the system locks. It does not crash, the mouse is still movable, but you cannot click on icons or anything. Like an intuition lock up.

It does not happen with anything except for the FORMAT command. Strangly, it does not happen when you try and format a floppy disk!

The volumes are all SFS, but that cannot be the problem as the same thing happens when you try and format the USB drive (in fat format).

I have reqattack installed, but thats not the problem as I tried completely removing it and it made no difference.

To top off the weirdness of this problem... If I go into Sys:System and run Format from the icon all is well!

Could this me a Magic Menu issue?

Well, run a SnoopDOS to see what's happening when you click format.

Good call! Not sure why I didnt hink of that, will report what I found.

No good. When you click format it locks up SnoopDos as well - before it has a chance to report anything!

Don't you have to use the SFS format command for SFS enabled drives?

Noperz. You should be able to just right click and format - AmigaOS will then give you the format options (after warning you that you will lose all data) relevant to the filesystem installed on that drive.

SFS you can only use "Quick Format".
Are you using quick format?

Sorry, I probably was not clear enough when I explained the problem. I dont actually make it to the window asking whether I want to format or quick format.

This is exactly what happens:

I right click on a volume on workbench, magic menu pops up. I select ICON, FORMAT and click. Menu closes, systems locks. No requester, nothing appears.

Yessum, simply double clicking the FORMAT icon works fine. Only right clicking and selecting format is a problem.
