OKiez, I have had an Amiga One for a few years now - I REFUSE to pay the ridiculous price being asked for 4.1.
Just thought someone out there might have a copy they no longer need (hardware failure etc). I know its a long shot, but the machine is simply gathering dust, so there is no harm in asking.
The price is insmae and if you have more than one machines you should pay for each one. This is a total waste of money.
Bingo! This happened with MorphOs. I own two Efikas, A peg 2 and a Mac Mini. Only the Mac Mini has Morphos 2.x regged because it CAME WITH IT.
If MorphOs could go on several machines I would buy another copy. If AmigaOS 4.1 could go on more than one machine I would probably buy another a1 and then buy 4.1...
I guess at this stage the only way I will ever have 4.1 is if someone has a copy they no longer need for sale.

You register OS4.x @ Hyperion's website to be able to download updates.
But you can "delete" your registration if you want to sell it... or something.

Theoretically I guess you could use one OS4.x license on more than one computer as long as it's two of the same kind.. (two A1, two Peg2... etc). But that is probably NOT allowed...Quote:

Isn't this the way all OS's works (Windows, MacOS, AmigaOS1/2/3, etc)? It's only allowed to install on one computer?... = 1 license / computer.
Oh yes, 1 licence = 1 computer... for single licence software. Of course, things like MYob, Windows (corporate editions etc) you can have multi system licences, which for the price of MorphOs and OS 4.1 they should be. I can buy a basic version of Windows 7 for half the price of MorphOs?!
The fact that you can buy an OEM licence of Windows 7 for few money, doesn't make you legal all the way, unless you bought it with a new PC. Retail versions of Windows 7 aren't cheap anyway.
Every company has it's own method of licensing either we like it or not.
Microsoft for example doesn't allow multiple installations of OSes/Office systems under single license unless they are Multiple license keys like "Open-License" series.
Whether the license is OEM (=with every new PC), DSP(=Preinstalled so cheaper than Retail) or Retail (to install in ANY PC you like) the basic rule of 1xLicence per PC stands.
No reason to be hostile because you don't agree with the products licensing policy. After all, many of us don't like that fact that you can't Register MorphOS for PuP for a long time due for the Team deciding closing the Registration Server. Sadly we can't do much except whine... although that, haven't managed anything.
Apart from that, ridiculous price or not... Hyperion put the effort into releasing 4.1 so you really can't do much if you really wanna try it. Developers/Companies that still produce software (not for free) deserve income. If you have a problem with that why don't you just contact Hyperion for a change? :D
Im not getting hostile. :) I just find it mildly annoying as I firmly believe the slow uptake of OS 4 and MorphOs is partly because of the form of distribution being "atempted".
Anywho, its beside the point. Still looking for a reasonably priced copy of OS 4.1. :)
I agree that AOS4.x and MorphOS is a bit pricey, but then again everything for our computers are... €200 for a 030/50 when you can get a 3GHz+ quadcore/six-core for the same price...? That's surely insane if anything is.
The "normal" Amiga user is a bit special.... he/she can sped thousands of euros on geeky super-mega-rare hardware but €150 for an OS is a big NO NO.
It's a very limited market and the price is thereafter...
And perhaps 1-5000 copies of OS4/MOS vs. 100.000.000 Windows7...
