I have one of these items and they truly are fantastic!

So here's some info to assist your thread =D

Firstly the GVP HD+ will improve your CPU speed by about 30% by adding FAST ram, it will also provide a very FAST DMA hard disk solution -

The above is the speed and free processor time based on the GVP 500HD+ and my stock A500+

Comparing this to an A1200 (native IDE) with an Apollo 030@40mhz shows the following -

As you can see - the native IDE with a 40Mhz Apollo 030 is in fact slightly slower.


The GVP HD+ can use either
4X 1MB 30 Pin SIMM's for a maximum of 4MB of Fast RAM
OR
2x 4MB 30Pin SIMM's for a maximum of 8MB of Fast RAM.

The GVP HD+ can use (r/w access) up to 3.6GB of Hard-disk space - however it can see and create a partition on larger hard disks but can only use the first 3.67GB of space without a GVP GuruROM.

Thank you young man, yes your right I've tested the speed of this on my a500 and 30% increase seems about right, I'll add some info pics when I get home from work. I would of loved this back in the day but my a4000 does most everything o use the amiga for these days :-)

But it certainly speeds up the a500!

I have one of these HD and can confirm that it's GREAT !
With some ram the A500 speed up a lot, SCSI hard disk access is LOT faster than A1200 ide !

I will package the hard drive up and pop to the post office and get some prices for shipping , cal is first in line to Greece and I'll get a price for Australia too .

The screen capture/image looks very, very nice (and sharp). What monitor is that, and is it a direct connection from A500 to the monitor, or is there a converter or adapter in place?
