Its a sad day - My upgraded BPPC wont boot :-(

I've tried it in both A1200's and it starts to boot, a few reads of the HDD and then the power light flashes and it stops.

I can't even boot from a WB Floppy :(

The system's are booting fine with my other BPPC so I don't know what to check.

I've tried with and without Ram and tried different Ram.

I've tried a few different Oscilators on the 060 and that didn't help.

I'll try cleaning the contacts, I don't see how that could be the problem though as it was working fine yesterday and I haven't changed anything :(

Yes its one of Stans units, (but I'm second user - Wasagi had before me) I sent Stan an email for advice though.

I've been using it almost daily without any issues though, just till today it wont boot.

It's this sort of pain that drives us all to the very edge of jacking it in and sticking with WinUAE.

maybe a PSU related issue? an upgraded bppc is certainly a big strain...

I don't think its PSU issue becuase on same PSU with another BPPC its working with BVision as well.

Also my other BPPC is working in both Tower and Desktop.

Although I have made some progress after email back from Stan.

With no HDD connected it goes instantly to KS screen, and does the same with SCSI connected. So its not booting from SCSI indicating at least some kind of fault.

And as soon as you introduce IDE HDD its gets to black screen and hangs

Or if you try to boot from Floppy it Guru's and gets caught in reboot cycle, strangly its at the point when the HDD is tried to be read.

Although it still Guru's with no HDD connected.

Hmm, I'm stumped. Hopefully Stan had some idea's :bowdown:

ps. I cleaned the connectors, that didn't help and I still cannot get the Config Screen by holding down ESC.

send back to stan
sell wife and buy another
take PPC to the fountain of eternal youth (you'll find it in the yellow pages under 'golden fleece').

on a more serious note, wot a bummer, hope it's a simple fix!

This really is bad news Steve... Atleast you have the support of the best community around! I'm sure someone can help you get to the bottom of it and she will get repaired eventually. But if its definately the card it could probably be anything from a cracked solder joint to a failing CPU.
