Catweasel Z-II Sclass

I have in my possession a Catweasel Z-II Sclass (Buddha ide and Catweasel MKII in one) from individual computers for zorro Amigas. It came as possible faulty and in fact it is.... :(
Now my hopes is that it can be brought back to life.

I tested it on my Amiga 2000 and with the card fitted on the zorro slot the Amiga doesn't boot, it doesn't even let me get to the startup screen (two buttons mouse), remove the card all boots fine.

No visual damage on the card but will make a closer inspection.

My A2000 specs: Kick 3.1, Megachip 2000, Picasso II and GVP Impact series II 030 card. No HD at the moment.

Any help would be awesome as this card really is great.

I have faulty Catweasel Z-II Sclass also....
But my A4000D can boot with card inserted into ZORRO slot.
Anyway: welcome to the club!

So i can assume that if even you can't fix your's i might start using mine as a paper weight :huh:

Check for shorts, particularly for things pulled to ground where they shouldn't be. Check in particular the clock lines to the card from Z2, as if they're shorted then the whole system clock will be stopped - I think!

Well, I was trying to clean all socketed IC's to eliminate bad contact, no result...
I assume you did the same.

Of course there is a method to try to fix it:
Take 100% ok board and find which IC faulty by replacing IC's one by one.

you can ask Jens for support, maybe he will be able to help you.

Indeed, as has been suggested above, make sure you extract all the ICs and give the board and the contacts a good, thorough clean.

With boards like that, I'd put money on the damage being caused by a previous owner inserting it the wrong way round in a Zorro slot. It's worth checking to see where the Vcc line would have ended up in this case and start your checking from that point.

I have this board too and i have not been able to destroy it so far despite all my bad manipulations (inverted cables and so on). Seems quite robust.

Have you tried it in another zorro slot and without any other board?

It's likely to be still working, or at least half the board (either IDE or catweasel).

By the way, you can reflash it with the tools found in an archive called final_eb.lha or something like that.
