Now if you connect it to the Amiga with or without the express adapter there are some funny clours (messed up graphics) followed by a blank screen and no boot, not even a KS screen.
Steve.
ahh... that will be the classic physical firmware wiping - aka +x volts up the wrong line.
I am afraid its only real probable use now (unless you replace the logic on the card) would be for spares.
tell you what, since I am a thorough type of chap - can you take a couple of scans (back and front) of the adapter - perhaps opening a new thread in the AmiOracle section?
I have just had a close look at the PCB, it might be salvageable my friend, that is to say there is a very slim chance the CPLD withstood the shock - since there are 2x 74LS254 latching chips that would be in the way before the CPLD with the power sent down pin 4 (Data 8 ) of the IDE bus.
It possible one of these blew first and inadvertently protected the CPLD.
The good news these SMD based 74LS254 are cheap and common - it might be worth the effort =)
okies - sounds the better way - now splitting =)
brb gotta split *heheh*

back =)
lol all sorted now fitzy =)
Hi Mate!
Got the scanner going but the image is awful, it puts the IDE pins in focus and the PCB is blured :Doh:
So I took this photo, probably not clear enough though:
Very interesting indeed my friend.
I think you may of gotten lucky... I may have a couple of spare 74LS245's to replace the two on that PCB.... with hot air it wont take 20 minutes when you pop on over. we can then test it here.
@Zetr0
Hi my friend.
I very much appreciate if you can help Steve. :bowdown:
I send this IDEfix Express pack to Steve as damaged one, because I put one of the IDE cables on the wrong direction...:oops: and smokes a bit..... Only one minute.... but the splitter unit don't work anymore. :oops:
Is a good complement for desktop Amigas and hard to find now....
All the best
