Hmm, not interested in this, but a friend of mine has the same also with mini DIN plug. You can use a simple PC-Adapter to use it on A4000T, as it was originally made for.
Maybe Amiga Technologies simply used A4000 cables lying around from Commodore and simply included this little, cheap adapter so the buyer from A4000T they sold can use it.
very interesting, maybe this info is of relevance.

Re A2000, A3000 and A4000 keyboards are interchangeable
pending on your keyboard connection fitted you can use a female 5pin DIN to male 6 Pin MiniDIN adapter. Of course if you have a 6pin MiniDin on the end of your keyboard wire then you will need a female 6pin MiniDIN to male 5pin DIN.
The only non DIN based keyboard connector is the A1000 that uses an RJ11 (phone line) connection.
the Amiga and PC lkeyboards all share the same PinOut at the connector end, however they have different protocols - the PC uses a protocol called PS2 to encapsulate the data transfer - where as the Amiga uses its own.
If you plug a PC keyboard in an Amiga you will receive a constant output stream of an extended character that looks like a "u" with dibbles on the top, or a "v".
Hmm, same as I wrote above. But I disagree on A1000: I bought RJ11 cables, they do not fit for me (Europe). I also bought RJ10 cable because they looked so "A1000-like" on the photo, that fit like hell :) I think that RJ11 is a widly spreaded false information and now even spreaded in Amiga forums :(

Hi,
If it helps I am using this keyboard on an A4000D (thats in a Power Tower) with a PC AT-PS2 conveter :)
Steve.
To tell you the truth, the connector is 6-pin.Isn't that ps/2?Well, I haven't tested it on a pc,but worked for me nicely in an A1200 tower project..Thanks for the info everyone:)
Hmm, it looks very much like an A4000D keyboard (they used the mini-DIN plugs instead of the larger normal-DIN plugs) but of course, Amiga Technologies never made any A4000D models, so I do wonder how this contraption came to be...
Of course, as Zetr0 says above, all big-box Amiga keyboards are interchangeable* and the same adapters that convert between AT and PS2 keyboards on PCs will work to convert between large- and small-DIN Amiga keyboards. (Although you can't use PC keyboards with an Amiga or vice versa, unless you have a special adapter)
*Except the CDTV keyboard which I recall is slightly different.
@lechuck
Just to clarify, the PS2 is both the pin configuration and the considered protocol - while the Amiga may have a keyboard with a PS2 connection (6 pin mini DIN) it is not the same protocol, thus it wont work on a PC.
In a lot of ways a keyboard is a low-powered serial device (and yes you can send data back to the keyboard) have a read here for more about how keyboards work
@gehtjanx
I am afraid it is an RJ11 Female socket on the A1000, thus you need an RJ11 male (same as most old modems)
have a look here if yours was different its possible it had an after market modification or perhaps localization - however this would be the first I have heard of.
And insofar as the CDTV is concerned Andy is dutifully correct in stating its pin out is different than PS2 6pin Mini Din fittings (have a look here)
hope that helps =)
FYI:
My A4000T I bought used came also with a AT Keyboard and PS/2 plug. I was wondering myself about it and asked the pre owner weather he swapped the cord probably (he also owns a 4000D, so I thought he took advantage of the longer tower cord for use with his desktop), but he didn't. He just forgot to give me the needed adaptor that came with. So it seems that these things were partly shipped with PS/2 plugs.
...later I bought the right keyboard with long DIN cord, to have it as it should be.:whistle:
Sorry for OFF TOPIC but i wanted to show everybody my Amiga4000
keyboard (just watch the serial number) ;)
I got it from vesalia (germany) and i got the cable (big din ---> small ps2)
converter with the keyboard :cool:
