Hello,
this is my first post, but I have been reading these forums for some time.
The reason i wanted to post was that I have been getting lots of hints, tips and inspiration from reading here, and I hope i can help or inspire someone else.
Either way, it is some good hardware pr0n :)
I recently bought a Radeon 9200/256 meg card off ebay, hoping it was the 5v version that would work with my mediator 1200LT4, but ofcourse it wasn't...:censored:
The Amiga would boot fine with it, but as soon as i ran the medconfig tool or pciinfo it froze.
I suspected it was because I had got the 3.3v version of the card, so I did some research if it was possible to get it working. And it was indeed possible...
I found a pdf file on the internetz in french, which i can't read, but there was enough pictures so I could make out what I had to do.
I chose to convert the card from AT powersupply to ATX to get the 3.3v necessary.
I started with a quick and dirty hack, just to see if it would work, I had an ATX connector lying around from a earlier A1200 ATX psu project.
When i was sure it worked, I pulled a new ATX connector from a old pc mainboard and cleaned it up a little..
I wanted to keep it reversible (you never know) that is why I kept the AT connectors intact and soldered on the back.
The green/orange wire going to the back of the pci slot is the 3.3 volt line, the short i made from 5v to the rightmost pin on the psu connector is the PS_GOOD signal, I guess it tells the logic that everything is ok with the psu, anyway it wouldn't work without 5v.
The workbench picture is in beautiful 1680x1050 on my 22" samsung display.
I threw in a overview picture of my (messy) desk too :):beer:
