cyberstorm ppc a4000 scsi

Does anybody know what type of scsi connector it uses?

. The seller kindly included a cable but I never saw this type.:( I searched through boxes but non available.

I think I search on ebay. Would be good what to look for I have 50 pin plextor writer and 50 pins disks but also much largers one, but they have a very long connector.

Any points appreciated, I can use ebay afterwards to find the convertor.

I am also a bit worried since I want this hard disk see pic in it and and a plextor writor 50 pins and then no clue for me how to terminate it properly with all of those non native connector devices.

It's Ultra Wide SCSI and uses 68-pin connectors...

Searching for "scsi 68-pin" on ebay should give a few of results ;)

I am now looking for the 50 pin cdrom, but what about termination:roll:

To be correct you need a 68->50pin adapter with highbyte termination. Those cheap adapters found on ebay don't terminate at all and finding one with correct termination isn't very easy. (most sellers don't state if it has termination or not)
Finding a 68-pin SCSI CD is probably a better/easier solution...

On top of that you're gonna need one terminator at each end of the scsi-cable...

68p-terminator ___ CSPPC ___ 68p HDD ___ 68p HDD ___ 68->50 w.HB-term adapter ___ 50p CD/HDD with terminaton (or ___ 50p-terminator)

or

68p-terminator ___ CSPPC ___ 68p HDD ___ 68p HDD ___ 68p CD with termination (or ___ 68p-terminator)


SCSI is certainly not as easy as SATA/SAS is today :blink: :lol:

So I was hoping to run the original scsi to the hard disk and having convertor as linked there and then go to the cdrom with convertor as imaged there and then buy a terminator? Or am I totally lost? Or can I terminate on those old cd writer? Probably not making out of your post:( Very confusing.

If your 50p CD/HDD has built-in termination you could of course use that...

I'm used to 68p drives and most of them don't have termination so you need an external terminator...

I think most of this is covered already, but...

The Cyberstorm III and PPC models have a 68-pin SCSI connector. That hard disk you have photo'd is an 80-pin SCA disk. You'll want an 80-pin to 68-pin converter. These tend to be very cheap on the Other Bay. I'm currently using 80-pin SCA disks with an 80-50 converter to plug them into my Fastlane and they work a treat.

As for the CD drive and termination, you can either get an expensive-ish adapter with high byte termination, get a 68-pin CD drive, or my favourite solution: Don't put the CD drive at the end of the chain! :-)

Is your Home made cable the correct way around?
Pin one (red line) has to come off the IDC header in the correct manner to get Ground & Data lines lined up correctly. All IDC Headers on the Cable must face the same way for starters. This is a very easy mistake to trip over & end up considering everything but the cable. ;)

As drbrain & Andy already said, a High Byte terminator could be the only solution. A lot depends on the capabilities of the SCA SCSI Device you are using.

I know you know what SCSI is all about on the Amiga, but ain't it a b1tch! :D

I am a bit positive minded hower I unboxed my A3000 without cpu card it is much much faster then my a600 with aca630.

It uses scsi tower.. scsi devices beat subway usb, it beats the ide interface many times just by the looks it loads icons, and then with the cybervision I am happy with it:D
