It's uaehf.device, not uaehd.device.
Hi!
To get the drive to show up under HDToolBox off the WB ADF you will need to choose IDE0 as your SCSI Device :)
You can edit the HDToolBox to see the UAE device but its easier to just select IDE0 from the start.
All the best.
Steve.
Dear lord...I'm such an idiot
Card now recognised using UAE as the controller and typing uaehf.device as the tooltype.

Right, so is this correct also???
Mask: 0x7FFFFFFC
MaxTransfer: 0x0000FE00
:D
That i cannot answer as i only use real hard drives in my amigas.
Fitzsteve is your man there.
The saga continues.
Thought I'd try the SFS filesystem for the first time last night. Set every thing up correctly and had 3 partitions all below 2gb... came to use the sfsformat command and it crashed the amiga (the usual Suspend/Reboot prompt).
Rebooted to find that all the partitions had disappeared so had to start from scratch. Decided to stick with FFS this time and use workbenchs own format command. Workbench quick format fails at the point where it says Initailising... and then pops up a prompt saying error DH0 is not as DOS disk ... doing a full format hits 100% on the progress bar but then the same error pops up when trying to initialise...
Chris
Is this all in Winuae? or a real Amiga?
Never perform a full format, only ever use the "quick" option.
Hi Chris,
Firstly don't do a full Format on flash media, it writes to every cylinder/block and your CF will not last long if you repeat this procedure many times. Always use the quick option.
It wouldn't normally cause the issues you describe but max transfer should be:
0x1FE00 (make sure you press Enter after inputting this or it will not be saved)
I would at this stage advise you to prepare this CF card in a real Amiga with Workbench install floppy, redo the RDB from scratch and try with FFS as you said.
There is a guide to setting up SFS, KG made one and its on Wiki:

Hope this info helps.
All the best.
Steve.
When a CF start to behave like this it's time to ditch it or put it in use for PCMCIA transfers.
That's one of the reasons I hate CF on the IDE so much.
Interesting, Steve's suggestion worked perfectly. I repartitioned everything again using UAE and then transfered the CF card to the Amiga where it quick formatted without issue!
The card was brand new so I wasn't about to give up on it as I'd purchased it primarily for this purpose!
The only thing that I can think of that's different is that I was using the UAE controller instead of the native(?) IDE one? I suppose I should have really switched the controller type on UAE back to IDE0 (changing the tooltype back to scsi.device) and re-run everything... food for thought....
