Help with Mediator and A4000 needed

I have bought this fine piece thanks to merlinkv :bowdown: . After long weekend fight and great support from merlinkv finally I have managed to get it working with my A4000.
At first it was not visible in Workbench, running pciinfo returned 40 unknown pci devices :( . It took me two days to decide to change the A4000 mainboard and it started to work. I do not know what can be wrong with my A4000 board, it is working with CV64 and PicassoIV ... . Any ideas ?

Finally, with second board, it stops on boot when loading radeon monitor if I am using CS MKII 060 or A3640 :mad: , boots fine with 030 but when I want to test resolution in picasso settings it freezes :( ... .

I am not going to pass on it as I want it badly :D but I have met a dead end and need your help :help:

I am having a slow internet connection, so I cannot search linkies but what I have learned mainly from Kin and Keith on here, and some from own error is:

Use the latest drivers from their website
Make sure vendors.txt is in the right place!

Make sure you try the latest Picasso release and also the latest beta. (there is a difference) Illuwater has yet a third release to be found at the website where boing bag 4 is .

Make sure you read the text file delivered with the drivers. It says how it should be done, it is all there:thumbsup:

Make sure you have thre right buster chip probably 11.

Try several versions of libaries for your cpu card, and for an 030 you need to put the libs back probably.

Use a decent power supply - test with an psu atx adapter to be found at amigamaniac

Hi again my friend.

Forget a moment the manual and try setting the Mediator Windowsize jumper to 256MB and run Medconfig again.

Mediators are great but curious pieces of hardware....

Two examples:

In my Mediator 4000D Mirage Pro MK-II the ZoRAM don't work if Windowsize jumper is in 512MB position. But in 256MB position all hardware works fine: Radeon 9200 256MB, ZoRAM, ......:shrug:

In Mediator 4000D's all works in 512MB position..... :shrug:

Remember, the last Elbox pci.library don't works fine with Mediator's 4000 family. Look here http://amibay.com/showthread.php?t=11993

Have not done anything new yet, waiting for the weekend :) .

OK, I am sure I have all libraries and files right (thanks to merlinkv :bowdown:) and still it does not work. I have checked it with Virge DX and Radeon ... . The boards are visible in pciinfo and under p96. When I switch resolution it hangs ... . I have noticed that with Virge DX when I run monitor Virge (from devs) it takes away all chip memory and hangs ... :Doh: .

I could not find enywhere how to install virge so I did it like radeon - changed names and tooltypes ... is it good way ?

I have checked second A4000 board again and it works now the same, must have been bad contact ...

Anyway I am pretty depressed now :| and feel so stupid reading all threads how easy it is to install mediator. Please help :help:

But if the boards are recognized by pciinfo & P96 they are working good.

Do you test with different jumper configs on the MK-II module?

About Virge boards..... Time a go I tried severeal times to install one Virge 3DX..... but no way, all time system crash...

About Mediators.... the A1200 versions are quite simple to install, also works with many Radeons universal 3.3/5v (tested for me time a go). But the Mediator 4000 family is another world.

Look, I bought few months a go one Mirage Pro 4000D MK-II the newest one.... Now is working, but hard to configure.

The older Mediator 4000D have less problems to start working :shrug:

Really I don't know where is the problem.... The second mobo is OK? and Fast RAM?

I have tried all jumper settings on mediator ... any thoughts on chip memory going away ?

Please post a full description of your hardware.

Also the PCI & Zorro slots are in use.

Try installing only the Radeon, test in different PCI slots. Everytime you change the slot, run Medconfig tool and pciinfo....
