A600 - Kickstart questions

Hi

I'm testing some of my KS chips in my A600 and have some questions....

I'm using one Mikronik 3 ROM switcher with 1.3, 2.05 & 3.1

- 1.3 and 2.05 KS's boots & run fine from floppy WB, games, ..... but my CF-IDE HDD are not recognised

- 3.1 (two chips from one spare A1200 mobo) works great and I can boot & run WB 1.3, 2.05 or 3.1 from CF-IDE HDD.

As I know 1.3 can boot from SCSI HDD's... but 2.05 can boot from IDE HDD's.... maybe I'm wrong?

I'm using A603, ACA630, IndiECS and CF's of 128 & 512MB capacity.

Any idea?

1.3 Rom cannot boot from IDE but 2.05 should (depending on exact revsion) which is it - 37.300, etc?

Now I also noticed that my 2.0 Rom could not boot with newer version of FFS, only an older version - maybe that could be the issue?

My 2.05 is 37.299 looks like an original Commodore chip.

But the HDD are not recognised with 2.05 Install floppy, HDInstTools, .....

Booting from WB2.05 floppys... everything works fine......:shrug:

Anyone noticed he seems to be claiming hes using a single 3.1 ROM from an A1200 set in an A600??? :huh:... :blink:

Ahh, thats the issue - this version has no IDE support you need 37.300 or 37,350 the latter being better for larger drives as some people report issues with larger drives on 37,300

Airey36 has one of the 37,350's for sale on ebay at the moment if you really want to run that revision with IDE support.

I have a couple of 37.300s that seem to run IDE okay?? They not adequate?

Yes, they do - but some people had issues with drives over 2gb IIRC.
