Polishing up an old A2000 (rev. 4.4) I want to make it ECS and exchange the 1.3 ROM for 3.1 among other things. Also, I have a A600 that I need a 3.1 ROM for.
I will scavenge an old 8372A from a dodgy A500 rev6, hoping that the Agnus is OK.
I already removed a leaky battery and made the lithium coin battery + diode hack. Board seems to have no serious damage but you can tell that the battery has been leaking.
So, does anyone have a Super Denise and one or two 3.1 ROMS to spare?
I was wondering, have you seen this EBay bin auction.
Does an A500 rev6 have a supper Denise? Mine has an 8362R8. I think you will need to scavenge an A500plus.

Super Denise chips only appeared as standard in A500 rev 8+ boards (The A500plus, and late A500s), A2000 rev 6.3+ boards (C2000) and in the A3000. (and also the A600, but as a surface-mounted PLCC chip)Quote:

I installed the 8372A Agnus from the butchered rev.6 A500 and now SysInfo says I have an ECS Agnus 1 meg. Moving some jumpers and cutting some connection will hopefully give 1MB of chip mem, right?

I believe so. The r4 A2000s have 1MB of RAM on the motherboard, split up as 512k Chip and 512k Fast. I've never encountered one, but I assume the 512k Fast is slow-fast (Ranger) RAM like on the A500 trapdoor. One also assumes that since the A500 and A2000 boards have a common ancestry, you can probably perform the same hack to bring it up to 1MB Chip.Quote:

There is no traces to cut on the A2000, just swapping the Agnus for the 8372A will make the A2000 have continuous 1Mb RAM located on the Chip RAM area.
