Help with SB128 on Mediator

OKiez, with a little help (thanks Merlinkv) I have managed to get my Voodoo 3 card working on this Mediator system.

I am now trying to get the Sb128 card working.... but am so far having no luck. I have installed the latest version of AHI. Installed the SB128 device from the MM CD, installed the mixer, libs etc, have gone into Sys:prefs/AHI and selected an SB128 audio mode.... click test... and nothing.

PCIinfo finds the card (device name ES 1371 AudioPci), and the mixer (which loads on start up) is not erroring (with the card unplug it complains it cannot find mixer.library). All levels in the mixer are at max.....

.....help! :)

what pci device does it say when you run pciinfo ? (pciinfo should be located on the CD or in the mediator pack)

if it's not the right revision it might not work.

I've tried 5-6 SB128 ES1371 and ES1373 and never gotten any of them to work :-(
neither on the A1200 nor the A4000..
mixer always crashes with me though, also apps using the AHI (like the amp player) also freezes up when using the AHI soundblaster.

Hi there - it says the device is "ES 1731 AudioPCI".

I especially purchased this card as ES 1741 chipset cards are supposedly supported - states on the Elbox website.

Have you tried the SB in another slot?

I had issues getting mine to work and I think changing slot helped.

Annoyingly a short while after I got it working my system crashed and I can't remember exactly what I done! I lost all the data on that install :(

I hope you made some typo's .. else this card won't work :-)

can you see what revision of the card it is ?
I haven't checked my own.. but they are probably a version that doesn't work :-/

Sorry, I meant ES 1371.

There are two slots it works in - when I say works, I mean the mixer does not generate an error when the system first loads (cannot find mixer.library). But in those two slots, the mixer loads, and can be run, and SB128 etc can be selected in AHI... and even tested, but no sound.

sounds to me you have some of the same problems I do.. though I have a radeon gfx card in mine.

have you tried moving the gfx card to another slot ? (due to dma issues)

Well, I have the Voodoo 3 card (also have a Radeon card, but not installed) in the top slot of the A4000Di.

If I move it to ANY other slot, the system no longer finds it!

I tried moving it to get my Spider USB 2 card to work. From the manual on the install CD that came with the Spider 2, the Spider 2 USB must be in a slow numbered higher than the Voodoo 3. The Voodoo 3 is presently in slot PCI4 (the highest one). When I tried to move it it refused to work.

I'm all out of ideas except for the revision of the soundblaster card.

Is there any site that tells you which revisions work and which dont?
