Mediator with Dataflyer 8mb ram

Hi guys
OK just to add to the mix I have a 4000Di mediator on a Revision B motherboard which has been fixed by Hickey. Now I wanted to add some extra memory to it so I added a DataFlyer 8mb ram expansion only problem is now I get two Yellow recoverable errors Error 0100 000C Task 07485030 then the machine loads.
I am having some other problems with the Voodoo 3 3000 card it will not give me a display but it will allow me to use the memory for the system also my PCI NIC is working OK and allowing me on the WEB. I have tried setting the memory to various sizes on the Voodoo including letting the card use it all for Graphics.

So would anyone be able to hazard a guess as to why the Ram expansion is not running correctly. I have it in the Top Zorro slot and have tried it in the other free slots too.

I tried a Z3 Fastlane with my Mediator and it wouldn't boot, I think the best option for extra Ram might be ZorRam or a Radeon Card and use the Ram from that :)

OK go figure still getting the software error at the start in the Yellow writing but now my video works I get the extra memory.

I'm learning pretty quick that Mediators in A4000's are a royal pain in the butt :thumbsdown:

Does this Ram expansion use the ZorroII space? Maybe something on the Mediator side also uses that?

As I know the Z3 Fastlane is a Zorro 3 DMA board, maybe the problem still here. If you use two DMA boards & Buster 11 the system will be unstable or don't work. What is your CPU board? is SCSI ready?

DataFlyer RAM expansion is a Z2 old model and uses 30 pin SIMMS, I think this is the problem. Best is to expand your system with other type of RAM (ZoRAM or CPU board with RAM or Radeon RAM.....)

Thanks for the Help going to try it with 4mb when I get home will be intresting to see what happens. I can see why so many guys dont bother with the Mediator for the 4000 it is hard work mad bit is now my NIC won't work but my Graphics card will LOL its just going to be a slow drawnout process.:thumbsup:

Thanks for the Help turns out you were right with the mediator and the A4000 seems the dataflyer does not like being forced to run in 32bit so although it does run after a few errors I am going to sell it so a lucky A2000 owner can have all that lovely 8mb ram ( would secretly like an A2000 to fit it to but no time these days LOL)

I don't think we'd need to close an AmiOracle thread anyway - someone in the future might want to add to it or have a similar problem, its not like closing a sale thread down.
