the memory is the problem
as you said the Apollos won't take that much memory, and fitting the double size ram on a blizzy won't fit:(
i have heard of peeps repositioning the ram slots but i think it's unlikely you'll get it to fit nice
i'm sure a pro will be along in a mo to show me wrong (fingers crossed)
cheers, JuvUK
As far as I know, the only 060 accelerator that can use a 128MB SIMM is the Blizzard PPC.
You can also use a Blizzard 1260 with SCSI module and use the 128MB module there.
Forget about the Apollo, the desktop version will take max 32MB.
You can get a 128mb Simm on a Blizzy 1230/40/60 but you need to use a cable tie or laccy band to hold it on - oh and then you need to put the A1200 on stilts
What I done was put a slim 64mb on the Blizzy and then 128mb on the SCSI kit like UberFreak suggests, that gives a whopping 192mb which is plenty lol.
Steve.
Might be an error on amiga.resource.cx then.
They state the 1230-IV & BPPC can take 128MB in a single slot, but the 1240/60 only 64MB.
Its because the 060/040 chip stands quite proud of the board.
You have two options, on a flat Simm socket use the laccy band/zip tie techneique or fit a 45degree angle Simm socket like my Blizzy 1260 has  (But then its only useful in raised desktop or Tower systems)
But for sure it can map the 128mb, that isn't the issue its just fitting the Simm.
Steve.
Good to know :)
Here, I took a little pic to show, as you can see my Simm socket is at an angle. With a flat simm Socket there is no way you would get a chunky 64mb or 128mb Simm in there.
With this setup I can, even up to 128mb but as you'll notice there would be no way to close the trapdoor and the memory module would hit the desk, thus having to raise the A1200. I have little feet on mine about 1cm high.

What 060 board alot depends on how much you want to pay really. Blizzard is the cream of the lot but Apollo is more cost effective. If you really wanted to save mega bucks you can get an Apollo 040 and get soneone to adapt it to take a 68060.
Don't forget that only Blizzard offers a SCSI option.
Apollo's faster than the Blizzard mind.
