1200 wont boot :(

Ok weird thing..My 1200 was fine it has a 4gb hdd in it partioned up. All i did was replace the stock 25w psu with the 500 60w one, turned it on and seemingly the hdd wont work the light kinda of wavers a while then i get an error message saying

software failure
set
program failed (error #80000004)
wait for disk activity to finsh

any ideas?

took the hdd and plugged it into the pc and it boots fine under winuae the amiga wont boot and now it does nothing at all..turn it on power light comes on but blank screen :( just hope i havent killed the blizzard i just got

what blizzard is it?

so no picture with the old PSU?

any flasing lights?

any flashes of colour on your screen?

have you reseated your mobo chips?

have you checked your blizzy hasn't moved?

yeah i tried the old one again, ok i took everything out reseated it all and it appears to be working again. I am getting blue lines that blink across the screen on startup not sure what that is. its a blizzard 1230 mark iv btw

Thats normal with Blizzard 1230 MkIV's :thumbsup:

If you ever get a Blizzy 1260 you get cool rainbow colours instead :D

Im just glad its working again, not sure what was going on but thanks for the quick reply. I was crapping my pants :D

Probably just a poor connection between the Blizzard and Motherboard if it happens again clean the Motherboard connector with a pencil erasor and the contacts on the Blizzard with IPA.

nm spoke to soon, now im just getting the red screen software failure on startup :) bloody thing
possibly an issue with this a500 psu as i plugged in the old one and its working again...could it cause those kind of faults?

PSU's can cause all sorts of wierd problems, also remember these PSU's aren't spring chickens anymore.

I personally like to do the ATX PSU hacks for more power and reliability

Sure if you're not getting enough power from an aging PSU it can cause all sorts of issues.

I use modified ATX PSU's on my upgraded Amiga's :thumbsup:

That's what I get for trying to do things on the cheap
