SD HxC Floppy Emulator => External drives?

Hi to all

Time a go I bought one SD HxC Floppy Emulator.

Is a nice piece of hardware but I want to convert as external portable unit to interchange with different Amigas, to use as DF1 & DF2.....

I try with fourth external Amiga FDD enclosures with no success...

Anyone knows if schematics for an project like this exists? Maybe anyone sell an external enclosure -to connect at the external FDD port- for this great adapter?

Pablo, just set the HxC as DF0 and use the logic board of the external floppy. Nothing more is needed.

Hey Pablo mate.

Just check the jumpers from the Manual (setting only the DF1) and then connecting it to the external enclosure.

But If I connect inside one external encolure to use External FDD port and configure as DF0 & DF1 I need to disable the internal floppy, right?

I have A600's & one A1200 and I want touse the internal FDD's as DF0 and the SD HxC as externals DF1 & DF2 this is possible?

That's why you need to leave out the DF0 jumper from HxC emulator mate.
Just leave the DF1 only on... and report back.

Theoretically you'll be ok as external drive and DF1 leaving your internal DF0 operational.

Interesting topic.

I've got an external drive with dead innards that could be used to do the same.

I'd like to try this out on my Miggys - that would save me buying three or four of the HxC Floppy Emulators :thumbsup:

The only problem guys is most games need to be loaded from DF0, I had a HxC setup as an external drive and most games would not load from DF1

But two or three HxC emulators will be an expensive solution. :(

I think in the A600's with ACA630 it's possible to disable DF0 and set DF1 to work like DF0. I want to install a switch in the A600 case for this purpouse.

The A1200 is another "history".. I don't know if is possible to mod this machine to enable/disable the internal floppy.

Yes its possible (and simple) to add a switch to have the external floppy as DF0: and the internal floppy as DF1 - with a simple switch you can then have DF0: internal and DF1: external again.

This mod does require you to cut some traces on the motherboard and solder some wires from and too the switch and motherboard.

I will hit the spec's later tonight to give you a diagram =)

btw - this is VERY easy to do on an A500/A500+
