Commodore 128D joins the retro roster

Today I received a keyboard for my C128D that had been given to me earlier. The 128D booted alright to 128 basic but I had no way of testing the disk drive or anything else without the keyboard. Now that I got the keyboard from m4rk1z, I was able to test the rest.

First we boot to 128 basic.

That was ok and the keyboard seems to work as we can type "GO64" and go to C64 mode.

We're in C64 mode. First a spin with the cleaning diskette and then try to load a game.

And voilá! Transformers is running.

Next steps are to dismantle the case from both the main unit and the keyboard and give them a spin in dishwasher. I also got a Scandinavian character set ROM from another C128 that would match nicely to the layout in the keyboard. Retr0bright treatment would also be nice but let's get it cleaned first.

Can you make your pictures bigger? I can't quite see ...

It's not bad. The case has few nicks here and there and one of the rubber feet is missing. The drive led doesn't lit but I suspect that the lead is just not connected.

I like those all plastic one's were you can store the keyboard under it and
a nice handle to lug it around reminds me of a apple 2c..

thats looking good i have the metal 1 but my keyboard is nice and orange

If i where you i would paint the c128d & keyboard all white
and get a new keyboard key's kit from ebay for it!
As you see i have done that before with my 128 and it looks perfect!

Also the front bezel for the Amiga can be done the same way
it is better imo than retrobright :cool:

Thanks, man! It is actually sharper than the pictures indicate. My phone camera just can't take decent quality pictures.

Fixed the non working floppy drive led. Opened the case and it turned out that led cable was connected but it was connected wrong. Turned it around and it started working. Yay! :D

Have to dismantle the whole case to get it cleaned at some point. More pics hopefully then.
