yay my A1000 arrived today by the post man :-)
erm not so good - no packing just the A1000 in a box! bugger!!
well here goes lets look at her , well shes a 1986 A1000 240v Amiga and filthy and with a slight smell of pee? or is that my imagination...
After a clean up and inspection , the covers are loose. a tiny bit of plastic is missing from one corner and a foot is awol.
Power time...
she lives!
doesnt seem keen on floppys at all, so cover off and after cleaning the drive it still no go ...erm what to do?
Ahhh fit an A500 drive in.Does it fit , well slap my thigh and call me Alice it does and perfectly.. no floppy LED lead but i'll fit that later.

HD8+ arrived today with zero ram installed. At first i had major issues - hdd wont spin , added ram & no boot , yellow screen once or black screen.
So detective head on..
HD8 had no ram , ive added 4MB (thanks Steve :-) ) now check the jumpers..there wrong ooops
turn on the A1k ...no go , same as before.
Okay HDD wont spin , so remove it and try - no go..erm okay dig out the A500 and test the HD8+ MK2
On the A500 - Bingo ram shows up up but the hdd wont spin - it clicks ...nackered??
i know try an external molex psu on the HDD and yay she lives!!!
ok , so now we have a HDD that boots (WB2) and 4mb ram showing - looking good, back to the A1000 again.
meanwhile back at the ranch...
The bits are plugged in to the A1000 and ...yay it boots but to WB2 and stops, set patch error, okay boot from 1.3 floppy and format on the A500 :-)
So now we have a very basic HDD set up and 4.2MB ram on an A1000 - 8mb is in the post by the way :-)
so what have we learnt...
well,
Kickstart 1.0 ,1.1 & 1.2 just freeze, reboot and loop to black screen
kickstart 1.3 boot to the HDD just as it should and works well :-)
I had suspected the 512k front ram expansion didnt like the HDD but i was wrong , its all good.
