My card is very unstable especially the first few hours it is switched on. I have swapped it out on my machines and they are stable without it. When I bought it it was overclocked to 63 Mhz with a socketed full-can and no fan. I've since dropped it down to 50 Mhz but it is still unstable. Anyone had similar problems? The CPU is XC68060RC50 mask 01F43G. Do you think it would be worthwhile replacing the CPU with a nice new mask?
maybe you have some problems with the memory module? which type is it? 60ns or faster? have you tried the jumper? is there a scsi attached?
Can you read the voltage level on the voltage regulator? It must be 3.3V and nothing under (3.27V is still OK). Overvoltage is also no good, so anything passing 3.4V needs an over-clock in the board to make it stable again.
Also clean the edge connecotr in the A1200 with IPA and a lint-free cloth and try again.
Tried different memory. No SCSI. It was working for a long time with the same memory but then got progressively worse.Quote:

I'm armed (and dangerous) with a voltmeter (first time I've used one). I can see the three legs of the voltage regulator but do I touch that with the positive red probe? And where do I put the black negative one?
It does not matter much as long as you do not bridge anything = short
left is mostly in middle is ground black and right is mostly out.
google the specs of the regulator to make sure.
I get 3.31 between first leg (ground) and second leg (out)
5.05 between first leg and third leg (in)
I have noticed the real-time clock has lost a few months. Could instability be caused by a dull battery? But just tested it not plugged in and it is 3V
Still having a problem with this, my other Blizzard (not the one I just bought off amigaman2000, which is fine :)). I hope I have traced it to a cracked solder join on a leg of the crystal socket.
If a leg of the xtal (is that what they are called?) lost contact momentarily via vibration or movement, would the Amiga's screen and pointer freeze but still display because the custom chips are doing the video?
Also the legs on my new crystal are really long (about 1 cm). Should I cut them with wire cutters so it sits flat in the socket?

Yes, it's possible, as long as the chipset gets its DMA cycles and pointer registers are properly reset every frame (typically a copper task, so no contradiction there). Try to keep some audio playing back and see if you get stuck, looped audio upon freeze time. That' d be a good indication of your assumptions.Quote:

I get the feeling you have an oscillator with thin 'legs' meant to be soldered-through yet you're saying there's a socket there (probably added as I don't think B1260s had socketed oscillators, not 100% sure though).
Also, a dying battery wouldn't make any difference stability wise. But if it's the standard VL-2020 it's rechargeable so it's normal you get 3V if the board has been 'fed' for a little while.

Just for the sake of the thread:
A blizzard 1260 board did not come with a socket for the oscillator crystal as standard. These were added later by modder's to help oveclocking by swapping said crystals with higher rated ones.
