Thanks, but I think this one only works with the A1200 and A600 keyboards, unless the A500 keyboard works in a similar way if you go further back from the connector?
Yes the membranes work identically, so up to the flat connector there's no difference.
And as a funny note, (at least some) A1200 keyboards are stamped with "A500", which is then marked-out and another stamp reading "A1200" has been imprinted.
Tells a similar to the A600 vs A300 story, I think.
I seem to recall that the A500 and the A1200 have different keyboard controllers. Maybe that doesn't allow the A500 to cooperate with a Keyrah?
Some A500 keyboards have just one membrane connector. Those will work 100% with a Keyrah.
Just sack the controller board and hook the Keyrah and the rest is just fun & joy.
What 500 use's the flat ribbon cable??
:coffee:
I think it's because the keyboard controller is part of the keyboard unit on an A500. If you dismantle the keyboard, there'll be a ribbon between the actual keyboard and the controller.
It's just more evident on the A600/A1200 because the controller is actually on the motherboard.
...I think. :)
Andy is right: as I said before some A500 keyboards have exact the same ribbon as the A1200, it is just on another location and with a completely different length. The 100% compatible unit have just one flat cable and is not the most common type.
The most common is the dual flat cable (with two connectors to the little keyboard controller board).
Sorry for not be clear enough on my first post.
I've always thought it was the other way round! Samsung keyboards (dual ribbon type) being rarer than Mitsumi keyboards (single ribbon type). But maybe it depended on the market too.
