Disgrace!

I was taken the chance that today was a calm day and put my A600 to work.

Was testing the new (to me, at least) ACA630 when I heard a strange whir from the PSU.

Needles to say that at the very same time the Amiga video output goes black, then solid red (like a ROM failure), then I notice the magic smoke smell!

Too late to turn the master switch off...

Fortunately, seems only the audio section of the Amiga is affected, but what a mess!:Doh:

A 1 Ohm fusistor (a mix of a resistor and a fuse) simply got burned, more investigation to follow.:(

I suspect Paula committed suicide...:crying:

Rogerio I can send you a spare A600 mobo that I have (althought it lacks the power connector since I had removed it for PicoPSU hack).

I am sorry to see this... I wonder what set it off... obviously theres been a huge current demand so I suspect a serious short somewhere.... but where?

The affected circuit is surrounding Paula 8bits (the 16bits Paula take Caio to school a few minutes ago). I think I spotted the fault: I wasn't using both channels, just the left one and the right connector was (obviously) shorted to left channel (normal behaviour for any A600/1200/3000/4000 models), but I'll dig thoroughly the circuit prior to blame something.

Currently the board is immersed in IPA to remove the blow carbon mess. Then a tooth brush, then replacing the affected components.

Another possibility is the capacitor I replace (some years ago) was making contact with the large resistor and shorted it when the Amiga warmed (hardly, but possible).
