I'll look in to jiffy dos later too :-)
I have attached a music demo for you to checkout on your c64 m8, not exactly child friendly so be warned :) (some naked ladies dancing)
Music and graphics are very good on this.

i can't get it to load Jimbo is it a fast loader?
and the fibr file browser is just showing one directory as well which is a pain.. but sdbrowser seems okay and lists the files just fine.

who needs an Amiga ???
testing time :
Games loading from the SD2iec take from 30 secs to no longer than 1:30 (ish) , i have also bought a Jiffy Dos chip (28 pin 8k Kernal) and I'm in he process of making an adaptor to 24 pin (old c64 fitting)
not sure whats next...ram pack to play with or super cpu?
************
pics - removing the Kernal ROM and fitting a socket last night in preparation for the Jiffy DOS rom
Its looking great Mike!
thanks Kieth, I've made an adaptor for the jiffyDos rom but its not keen at the min - blank screen ...i'll have another look later.
Does the sd2iec have the possibility to change the device id? This would be a great addition to C128D but you should be able to set the id to something else than 8. I have a 1541-III DTV. It does work but its display doesn't show anything comprehensible so you're stuck with the Basic UI.
Excellent work on that old 64!
I have a manky breadbin with a c64c board inside that is crying out for some tidying up. I even have an sd2iec but for the love of god I just cannot remember where I stashed the dam thing so im stuck at the moment. No way am I buying another as I know it will turn up just after hitting the buy button lol.
Will jiffy dos just plug into a 64c board? or does it need a socket fitting?
Oh and how was that reset switch fitted? I have some of those push button switches floating about.
Hi all
after 6 months , I've finally put Jiffy Dos in my old C64 brad bin machine
not played with it yet but as i got the adaptor from tbtorro (thanks !!!!) i just had try it
:-)
I've made the sd2iec external now so i can swap from 128 to c64 and so on..
Slight update :
Jiffy Dos ! its great, disk access (sd2iec) seems much quicker but it was quick before, now its super fast.
the Function key short cuts are excellent and i can give Gaz a run for his money when loading demos :-)
but..
I have CIA issues on all my 8 bit commodore machines 2x64 and 1x128 ...
keys stop working when they get warm...half the keyboard stops functioning. luckily one on the '83 c64's has socketed CIA chips so i'll change them first and then the 128 the other 64 may end up for spares...not sure yet.
Ill sort it out with my hot air station if you can give me a week or so. Haven't unpacked yet, and while you have been messing around with Jiffy Dos, I just use my 1541u-ii :)
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
lol cheers Gaz,
we'll have to a loading times race , i suspect my streamlined system will blow you away...

idiot alert , idiot alert!!
it seems its not the CIA at all in one of my C64s... but its the sega gamepad?
when i plug it after messing about with the internals - some keys don't work?
so i unplug everything , pull socketed chips out and try - bingo it works?
...so i rebuild it again and plug everything in ..keys don't work (WTF!)
only after half an hour did it click in my slow brain and didn't plug the game pad in and tried! ...the non functioning keys now work!
and now all the keys work, I've just tried a Quickshot joystick and it seems fine ...
bizzare,
humm auto fire not still on is it
must fit my jiffy dos some time
looks  though, anyone got a cheap SD card solution for my c64
great stuff mike glad you found out what was wrong too
thanks guys , no the sega pad doesn't have auto fire but another sega pad works just fine. Odd me thinks ..
Oh well , now to fix the c128... CIA and jiffy dos :-)
Hey there, I know this is an ancient thread, but how the hell did you manage to get Lotus to run? I can't find a version of the rom that runs on the SD2IEC :( Apparently it requires complete 1541 emulation, according to GB64...
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! :D
Just a while ago I also did a similar modification to my breadbin and documented the exercise.
