Hi guys does anyone have experience with UAE under Linux? Unlike its Windows counterpart I cant seem to find an option to mount an unformatted physical drive. (ie. A real Amiga drive, formatted by an Amiga, that I've put into a USB adaptor and works fine this way with Windows UAE).
Is there a way to do this or is it simply not possible in the Linux version?

Been busy partly with Amigas :oops: but mostly getting ready for college and family stuffs, but back to the C learning tomorrow if I get a few hours :D ! :lol:

The disk utility shows the drive as SDB1 with 2 unknown partitions (the same sizes as the ones I made on the A1200). But Ubuntu itself doesnt have the drive listed to choose in E-UAE... If I format I will lose all the info... At a loss :unsure:
When I last had a *nix box up and running I was using Fedora Core 11, I had no trouble setting up my Amiga 4.3GB IDE drive - infact it was a such a breeze I thought I must be doing something wrong.
I miss that setup - saw me though all my dev work at college and most of Unit that little tuxi - from FC6 all the way to 11 - good days... it was only a P3 750 as well... small but perfectly formed.... a bit like YESica Alba.... or HELLOBerry =D
Rofl, it seems theyve added so much these days you have to download half of the OS after the install. It's almost a modular OS. Perhaps they took out some of the ability to read the less common file systems and tehres something I can download to rectify that. If not maybe I've done something with the drive it doesnt like...
Either way, I'll just start from scratch and setup a folder instead. I love digging to find solutions to problems like this but I've been doing similar stuff for all my free time the last 2 days and I just want something that works :lol:.

Yes, simply look for FFS (Fast File System, not the other meaning) for Linux and add it to your file system list.
Old UAE for Linux didn't had support for real HD or partitions, but seems this changed over last months.
If I am not mistaken it doesn't need it, I never had to use as such because I could open the drive and drag'n drop what I wanted, but I am sure there is a very convoluted way to get an Amiga HD working with the older version of UAE
Hmmm... I thought it was FFS anyway... FFS! lol
I opened it in a windows computer and setup another folder as a drive, then copied everything to that folder and am now using the folder in my Linux partition. Bit of messing but I found a way around it atleast :lol:
A far as I kow UAE did not support it in the past.
I think it is still in kernel. Maybe best to ask at your local linux forum. Last time I had to edit /etc/fstab but I have ubuntu...
