Hi all,
I'm new to amiga world..and i'm trying to configure an A2000 kick 2.04 (37.175) + Commodore A2091 SCSI controller with Seagate ST31200N.
I set TE jumper on Seagate to use onboard temrinators..i leave A2091 factory default (rom is v.7.0)...but the system doesn't see HD?? HDTools se NO HD and A2091 setupdisk does not say anyting....what am i worng? is there missing step?
I'd like to install WB 3.1...using original floppies....

Check termination power (TP) jumper on Seagate. My Seagate HD had problems until TP jumper was set (even if TE was enabled).
Also check SCSI address on HD is not set to same as A2091. (Default = 7).
Finally, check condition of SCSI cables and power connections. I've had flaky SCSI cables and power connections cause more headaches than I care to say!
After you get HDtools to see your drive you still need to partition and format it before you can boot from it. The boot partition should be < 4 GB. Good luck!
P.S. You need a 3.1 ROM or KICK 3.1 ROM image to install WB3.1.
Does the A2000 recognise the A2091 in the early start up menu?
(hold down both left and right mouse buttons while doing a reset (where the screen flickers grey to white)).
Hi..now i can see the HD..partially..using a2091 Install disk.
HD Prep fails with erro code 32 = unable to open device but..
Using "Reading Definitions" i can retrieve HD info from HD...size sector etc...and now i'm low level formatting the drive...but how long does it take? it's 1.2 GB HD...

Nah, let it finish.
Try to add a partition when it does finish, save changes, reboot, see if you can see the partition. If you can, format it and name it HD0 or System or Workbench
Hi,
Using HDTools inside A2091 Setup Disk v.1.30 i managed to create 2 partition: System 98 MB and data 900 MB.
I reboot and using HDTools (Same A2091 Setup Disk) i still see my partions...but when i try to format the partion usinf HD Format (same disk as above) it say : Warning Hard Disk DH0 : cannot be found!
and the it exit...
What's wrong?...

P.S. i think i'll give up...
You should not need a passive terminator if you have TE enabled on your drive. If HD tools can see the drive and partition the drive OK then termination must be satisfactory at this point. Do not run the FormatHD or PrepHD scripts... they are left overs from the A2090/A controllers. Once you have the drive partitioned and made bootable with HDtoolbox all you need to do is Format it from the Workbench menu. Most of the time Fast Format will suffice.
P.S. You will also need to install WB2.x on the boot partition if you want to boot to the Workbench screen.
