Installing 3.9
So after a big fail on my part i formated the wron HD partition so now i dont have any OS on my 3000.
The problem is this, i haven ever installed an amiga OS in my life. Thought it would not be to much of a problem but it rly is if you wont have the proper tools to do it.
I use my 3.1 disks to boot the machine and i tried to partition my 18gb 68pin scsi disk but that is a no go. I get this lovley error msg from HDToolBox when i try to get the proper size (cylinders, blocks and all that)
The files L:FastFileSystem cannot be found or has errors, The setup for the drive will not have a filesystem. This may stop you from using the drive under AmigaDos 1.3 and before. You are advised to exit the program and install the file L:FastFileSystem, then try again.
So i am stuck. I dont have a floppy drive on any machines in the house so i cant transfer anything to the amiga so i dont know what to do.
Any tips?

You are stuck mate, either buy an external usb flop for a pc, at the end you will need to tranfer files.
I see the only option is to mount the scsi drives in winuae, that is if you have a scsi card in pc.
I could help you out sending hdinst.lha on flop from aminet wich will do better then hdtoolbox. That of course for envelop stamp only.
Another option is to buy usb for amiga the deneb, but it needs a basic install and a proper patched installer to run,.

How do i transfer the files to the floppy? I could maby do it at work if i dont need any special programs and settings to do it.
Do i just formate a "normal" amiga floppy on the PC and then copy the .lha files from aminet on there and im good to go? Can i unpack the .lha files on my amiga when im only booting from 3.1?
Or do i need to unpack them on my PC first bofore i copy them over to the floppy?

You need to look for crossdos on your workbench disks. I do not know on wich it i is. With crosdos it reads dd floppys and HD if your A3000 has HD
You will need to tape of the HD hole and format DD on pc. if needed
You need to download lha.run and put it on a DD pc floppy
You will need to run it in ramdisk and rename the proper cpu version to lha.
After that you can do lha e download.lha in ram. and build up needed floppys. There is an util tsgui.lha to write floppy adf if needed. Best to get asap a working 3.1 system.

if you have a working 3.1 system first put lha in C drawer and download a newer installer and put it in C and utilities to start with.

Do you think it is possible to use discsalve on the partition i formated?
I had the 3 FFS partitions and i had a copy of the system drive on all of them. Thought it would be idiot safe but i gues not :P
And 1 partition with PFS3 on that contained the system drive.
The PFS3 Partion have been fiddled with alot, removed it and recreated it alot of times after the format so that could be difficult i gues?
But the FFS partitions have not been tutched since they where formated, do you think i could save something from them? Maby everything?

I cannot help you with that mate, as far as I know disksalv is made for ffs and old small sized partitions...
I never had much to play with, or it was a500 with disks, or it was aftermarket machines, wit safe copy on pc.
Sorry no idea..

One solution would be to install AmigaOS 4.0 and do everything from there =D
-
Thought installing 4.0 would be easy but nothing is rly easy when it comes to tricking your amiga into doing your bidding.
Have treid all the different settings in the PPC menu and still i am greeted by "Please insert volume AmigaOS 4.0 Install CD in any drive"
I can see the CD drive if i hold both mouse buttons and get into the Boot options but the damn bootdisk dont want to recognice it :(

I cannot help you with that mate, my knowledige of the classic os 4 is nihil.
hope somebody else picks this up
