Apollo 630@40 MHz board

Hello.

I am offering here my Apollo 630 board, accelerator for Amiga 600.

It gives 7700 dhrystones in sysinfo, about 2500 more than an ACA630 @25 MHz.
It comes with a 40 MHz full 030 CPU, a 40 MHz 68882 FPU and 32 MB of FastRAM (EDO 72 pins SIMM).

Works like a charm (i have a video of it), but heats a lot. I have used it from 2005 to 2010 with a fan screwed on the case vents like the guy at The Extreme A600 upgrading page www.amiga600.de with no problem, but i wanted a 100% quiet computer after i moved to a CF instead of a HD. It is now fitted with small copper heatsink on every chip but heats. Rather than adding a fan again, i prefered to downgrade to the ACA630.
It has just been gently removed from the A600 without any problem.

Fitzsteve is number one in line here so everyone stating interested here will be after him until he takes a decision.

For sale for 170 EUR + shipping in Paypal gift or bank transfer.
I can accept a trade for a 060 accelerator for A4000 (even without CPU) or a GVP 030 accelerator for A500. Also interested in a mp3@64, a MAS-player or a Deneb, a french white AZERTY keyboard for A4000.

UPDATE:Will also offer a 3.1 ROM for A600/A500/A2000 to the buyer.
Concerning the parts i would be interested to swap, money would of course be added for the 060 A4000 accelerator, as well as money should be added from the buyer if there should be a swap for a cheaper part.

Yes if you first desolder the existing one.

The first thing to do would be to desolder the cristal oscillator, and try a 50 MHz one. Both the CPU and FPU might be able to work directly at 50 MHz (especially the FPU, as according to Amigamaniac there is no difference between FPU from 33 to 50 MHz).

And there is no difference in the PGA CPU versions, either.

Well... since I have done it... I'll advise NOT to change the CPU and the oscillator!!!

Apollos are really beasty and nice accelerators but their PCB really sux for tinkering! I send my Apollo 630 to PG and desoldered the CPU and putted a socket in which i putted an 68030@50MHz (C revision).
Just for info... the 50MHz oscillator worked 1/5 of the times even with extra capacitors and extra +5V juice on the header.

40MHz is a win-win situation. 50MHz is awesome but only WHEN it works (which isn't very frequently). Also you can easily damange the tracks on your board (or remove the eye-let from the oscillator socket. I managed to make that to my board but hopefully I fixed it by taking the signals from nearby components).

Badly soldered socket maybe.

Who is this PG? Is he Per-Gunnar Johansson? I need to speak with him about one of my Apollo 1260 but i had no news from him for months. Would you know how is going and how to reach him these days?
