Amiga 1000 kickstart adaptor

Okay so after trying and failing to find an adaptor , I have ordered the parts to make one. Now I can't accept any praise for working this out since our German friends have already done this and I'm just copying!

So this weekend I have started to build the board up and and have fitted the sockets. The wiring diagram in German is a little confusing and I may need some help with translation and the diagram it's self.

My friend zetr0 maybe getting a pm !!

Anyway I'll post pics later and if it i manage to complete one and it works I may be able to have my arm twisted to make a few..,

I had hoped to buy an adaptor by djbase so I can get the pin diagram but I'm having trouble finding one..

I have a damaged djbase adapter if that would help... Plus I suspect you've got the original PDF from the german magazine with the description in it?

Okay here are a few Amiga 1000 tips and tricks I have done in my Machine.
These DO Work and were derived and developed by me and being too cheap to
pay good money for things that with a little work can be done CHEAP.

Amiga 1000 KickStart ROM, ya,ya you have heard it before, How about using
an Amiga 2.04 Kickstart ROM in your Amiga 1000. Need some nasty $70-80
kickstart board? Nope just wire a ROM Socket Atop your 68000 CPU. This is
what I did. I wirewraped a 40 pin socket to the correct legs of the 68000
CPU itself and Glued the Socket in place. The 68000 is still replacable as
is the kickstart ROM itself as it is socketed! Connect the following:

NOTE!
Pin 12 is OE line which needs to go to ANY pin 22 on the 4 Rom Sockets
on the Motherboard. The orginal ODD, EVEN ROMS get pulled out. The wire from
pin 12 can be pushed into pin 22 of one of these sockets OR Soldered direct
to the pin 2 pad of the 2 unsocketed rom places on the motherboard under
the Disk Drive. Also 16/63 are BOTH Ground lines, Use Either! Likewise
14/49 are both +5.

  That's ONE way , here's another , since the signals are all available
 (almost) on the pins of the boot roms, I just made a small pcb (hand-wired)
 that would adapt the pin-out of the 27256 (Boot ROM) to the 40 pin ROM.
 There are only 2 address lines missing, you can get them on the 2 pin
 connector that goes to the daughter board. The way I made the thing, the
 adapter plugs into the 2 boot ROM sockets then goes under the floppy drive

 reserved for the 2 extra boot roms. A tight fit height-wise but works

Remember that a 2.05 ROM is jumpered differently than a 2.04 ROM so that

Yes the adaptor would bd very handy to get the correct pin diagram , I have the mag article from the german magazine but to be honest the diagram is a little confusing as is my lack of German!

Also bear in mind that one of my A1000s point blank refused to work with a kickstart chip in the adapter; that one was a PAL rev A with daughterboard...

I have read through various German descriptions and drawings. It would be handy to see a real one as I'm building one.

Well, I'd quite like it back as a I have an unused 1000 motherboard doing nothing right now... I know that sounds a little daft. But you're welcome to keep it for a few months. It also is slightly damaged as a pin is broken.

That's not a problem I can return it after sorting my little project out. Do you want me to repair the pin?

Yeah, I should update or re-write that a bit better, just no time, and I did want to leave it like he wrote it. I tried 3 different electronics parts stores to get the parts together for a DYI kit (i actually went in with photos and such), but the morrons at all the stores want part numbers for everything, If they can't have a part number, it doesn't exist.:Doh:
