Would appear my A500 hates CF cards :(
Tried with a known working sandisk and 2 I got from fitzsteve. always get corrupt data. 3GB 2.5" HDD works a charm, so sticking with that :)
2 whole days wasted trying to get it work :D

Just to report in -
Never use no brand CF's with an AlfaPower. Just threw in a pair of 4gb SanDisk Ultra's, didn't muck about with any settings. Works perfect :D
Lesson learnt, pay the extra £2 and stop being a tight git:D
