help me with spray paint canisters please

Hello..
as usual i am working on some project or a nother and decided it was about time to start learning how to spray things with enamel paint..

I have seen it done. and i have seen it on tv. and every 1 says use a little spreying it on thinly and build it up..
Well how do you do that??

i took my test bit out side and hit the nozzle and " FIIZZZZZTTTTT "
too thick.. So i tried again on the other side and "FIIIIIZZZZZZTTT" to thick agaiin.
So i dabbed most of it off And can test again on that in about 20 mins..
but how do i make it a nice thin coat so it dosent run?

a lot can depend on what paint you are using (poo paint will dispense itself in a poo way)

poo does not mean cheap, some poundland paint can be good. so its not about cost but brand.

more air... shake the can violently for 5 minutes

ensure that you have a proper base coat to the material you are painting...

hold the can a good 2 foot (24 inches) away from the target....

use gentle arcs and no more than 4 second bursts of spray.....

remember t wipe the nozzel afer every other burst or it will spit on the work.

Spraying thin is acomplished by maintaining a redicilously large distance between nozzle and work.
Recommended is usually 6ocm.
Be prepared to waste 60% of your paint, spraypaint CANNOT be efficient and dripfree at the same time.
Also, before spraying put the cannister in hot (not boiling) water for 30 mins, and shake for 10 mins before use.
Hehehe having to hold the cannister in your hand will prevent you from overheating it :)
Do ask around if the plastics need special groundlayer.
Me personally, i spray 3 layers high shining and 2 layers dull paint.

Seems all i was doing wrong was the distance between me and the item.

However..
Seems like out doors = bits of crudd that like to land on your fresh paint :Doh:
I must clear out one of the sheds.

Lucky enough i decided to test paint one of the less importaint parts 1st (also one i had lots of spairs for)
So if it ends up ruined im still good.

as for pound land paint you better believe im gonna stock up on some ASAP (nearest one is 30+ miles away but its all good for the price its going to work out cheaper than EvilBay "yes thats where i been buying paint from :("

+1, textbook spraypaint advice. However I have heard alot about vinyl dye, I would certainly give that a look if retr0bright isn't an option.

150ml of spray paint is NOT ENOUGH:Doh:
So i guess il be doing a trip to poundland tomorrow after all

Most important....

When spraying a large flat surface, remember to bend your wrist, to keep the can at the same distance from the surface. I know Zetr0 spoke about arcs, but on flat surfaces this can cause too much paint to be applied in the middle of the arc, causing runs...:wooha:

'Rattle can' painting takes a bit of practice, but you can get really good results with patience and care.

18" to 2 feet away with the can, parallel with the surface and bending the wrist to keep the can level and you can't really go wrong. :thumbsup:
