Looking for a USB Floppy Disk Drive, fully working and within the UK thanks
I have a couple. I have a Toshiba branded black one with a rather short cable, ideal for a laptop, and a pc-line "2xSpeed" silver one with a longer cable.
Both work fine. The Tosh I used to format 100/150 disks to make sure the disks were fine, the PCline one was only removed from its packaging this weekend to test.
I'll photograph em tonight, and let you take your pick. I would estimate cost of £3 inc uk postage, a bit more for 1st class / recorded etc.
However, what do you intend on using them with? They are fine for PC/Mac formatted floppys, but I don't think they can read or write other retro formats.
(Actually, I am going to PM this to make sure morcar gets alerted!)
thanks for letting me know. Its going to be used on a notebook really as i intend to use dosbox and the like with real floppy disks.
looking forward to the pics thanks again
I am not sure how well a USB drive will cope with the copy protection of some titles (odd sectors and unreadable blocks), really old self booters, or titles using DMA floppy access, but they should work with standard or de-protected titles.
I'll get some photos sorted and post em here.
thats not a problem as most of my stuff wont have the protection on it plus its a cheap way of transferring very small files to the netbook.
Sorry about the delay. Yesterday evening was a bit too hectic.
Anyway, pics as promised.
