scsi->ide-> compact flash problems

So i got myself a scsi to ide converter for my CSPPC and i tested it with a IDE disk and it worked just fine.

So i orderd a CF card and today it arrived.
Put everything together and booted the A3000 and i found the CF card directly in HDtoolbox.

My first thought was " this was easy" but nothing is rly easy when it comes to amiga :)
Pressed the on the CF card to partition it but instead i got slaped in the face by this.

"sorry this this type of device cannot be handled by hdtoolbox"

So what am i supose to do now? I have no clue what so ever, how am i supose to partition it when no partition program lets me do it?

what version of toolbox are you using?

Dont know, cant find any version number.
Have also tried HDinstools with the same resoult.

Update:
Now i cant even get the amiga to bood from my normal HDD when the CF is in the socket.

The CF just shines red for a couple of sec and then goes off and nothing happens.
If i try to hotswap the CF when i have booted into 3.9 and then rescan the scsi chain it just take forever to scan it and nothing happens.

First of all clean the CF using Diskpart from Windows.

Open an DOS prompt (run as administrator) and enter diskpart. In DiskPart enter list disk. Identify the CF card and enter select disk n. Replace n by the number of the CF card. Enter list disk again and check that the right disk is marked with a '*'. Enter clean and then list disk once more. It should now show the entire capacity as empty. Leave DiskPart with exit.

If it still doesn't let you partition it... try and initialize it via WinUAE.

To find your HDToolbox version just open a CLI and enter:
1> cd SYS:Tools
1> version HDToolbox

Best version to initialize/partition HDs is OS3.9's HDToolbox (version 45.6)

I have a config like yours on my 2xA4K's with CSPPC and both works great.

Used diskpart but still no boot with the card in the reader.

Have never used WinUAE, dont even know where to find the 3.1 disk images.

What CF Card reader do you use?
Also when you put the CF... Boot to early startup menu and choose the HD from the list just to be sure that priority is not an issue

I cant even see the CF card in the boot menu.
So i do not understand why it aint booting.

Got winuea up an running but after i did that "clean" thing on my CF card my windows install refuse to recognice tha card :(

Ok that's better...

As I see from your ACard... your SCSI ID is configured as #1 based on the jumper and you haven't put Termination on.

To be able to use this you need the following in your SCSI chain.

• Terminator -- CSPPC -- ACard -- Other SCSI Devices -- Terminator (or terminator jumper on the last device)

OR

• Terminator -- CSPPC -- ACard -- Terminator jumpers on (if you only have ACard in your chain).

The terminator jumpers are the ones above the molex power connector (JP4 and Terminator power JP3)

If you have this correctly... then you need to press ESC on power on to be able to get to the SCSI menu of CSPPC and check out if all SCSI ID's are ON and in AUTO.
Also be sure if you have other SCSI devices on your chain... THAT there is anyone else with SCSI ID = 1 (or you need to change that or the ACard jumper).

Check these and report back

Still not working.

The LED on the CF adapter lights up for 10-15 sec and then turns off and there is no boot from my scsi hdd what so ever.

In the early boot meny i cant see the CF card but still refusing to boot my scsi disk as long as it is inserted.

I put the jumpers on both terminator pins?

Edit:

WinUAE is up and running, found the CF card and i created some partitions on it but when i treid to save the settings i got "Error 28 on write"
I have selected read/write in UAE so i dont know why i get this.

Edit2:
Started the amiga without the card and then inserted it when 3.9 have booted.
It poped up in HDtoolbox but still get the same error msg as before that i cant fiddle around with those kind of things in hdtoolbox.
The version on HDtoolbox is 45.6 :)
