Rtg: P96? Cgx? Egs? Wtf?
So, if you survived the TLA overload in the title, my question is essentially: "Which RTG software do you use on your rigs and why?"
Obviously some cards will steer you down a certain route because they only have drivers for some of the RTG subsystems, but many others have drivers for multiple RTG standards. The Retina Z3 I've just acquired has drivers for P96, CGX, EGS and RetinaEMU, so I'm spoiled for choice!
All advice gratefully received. TIA!

P96 is the best because it is free, versatile, and the easiest to use.

Hi :)
I'm using now P96 because is simple to configure and offers great results.
But also I want to setup Cgx with my CVPPC because with Voodoo & P96 games like Wipeout don't work......

CGX4 all the way!
P96 is shareware (free only for Picasso products - that's why you get an "Thank you" on installations)
Also it's not bad and it also works on UAE!
Noone can convince me that it's not a Nightmare setting up custom resolutions with P96 though! I remember back then that making 1360x768 resolution for my Samsung 23" on my Mediator A1200 setup took me 3hours on blind mode (playing with left/right etc buttons till I managed to get my screen).
With CGX I was able to make ANY custom resolution in every color depth without a single problem and it feels faster as well. (At least on my BVision/CVisionPPC setups).
Also every 3D game like WipeOut etc... works like a charm without a single glitch :P

@mfilos
What's the best resolutions you can get with CGX4 on 4:3 and 16:9?.....
-
Actually P96 is free only when used with a picassoIV card.
And like mfilos said, CGX4 all the way! Unless there is a specific reason one might want p96 (no hardware drivers or support for overlay when you use a picassoIV + paloma) then there is almost no reason not to use CGX4. :D

Hmm, I think the max resolution is what your GPU can give you.
Haven't tried yet Full HD cause I always get HD Ready LCD/TV's with 1360x768 for use with Amiga. My everyday resolution is 1280x1024 on a Dell 17" monitor or change to 1360x768 22" LCD/TV.
The max resolution I have tried so far and it was based on a monitor of mine was 1680x1050 (Eizo) on my BVision using CGX4.

I have a philips brilliance 220c working in that resolution - it does not offers higher - memory limit?

I prefer CGX v4 as the screenmode program, CGXMode, is waaaaaay better than the P96 counterpart (Picasso96Settings?)
Just yesterday I was about to install my CV64/3D in my A3000 and thought I should go with P96. Installed it and started the screenmode program and played around a few minutes, but all modes I tested was a big no-no .. wtf
Popped the CGX v4 CD in and installed it instead.. the first predefined screenmode I tested in CGXMode worked directly
On my A4000 I have both P96 and CGX v4 installed as the Radeon only works with P96 and the CVPPC only works with CGX.
Once both are setup there's not much difference between them, but in my opinion CGX v4 is easier to setup so that's what I prefer.
I've used 1920x1200/1600x1200 with my CVPPC, not a lot of gfx-memory left though and it was kinda slow... this was on OS4.1 Classic.
1280x1024x16bit is the highest usable resolution with B/CVPPC in my opinion, anything higher gets to slow...

CGX4 is a b@tch to install and I never had it running good myself, Picasso96 is a bit easier.
