FastATA MK I 1200 IDE Interface
Hey everybody
A FastATA MK I is available for sale. It was used in my 1200PPC and it's in working condition.

Need to ask a few questions though.

1) Does it work with any A1200? I have a Rev1B board (currently under repair).
2) What is the max size (in GB!) of HDD this device supports?
3) Do I need any specific drivers or software to run it, or does it replace the built in IDE? Are any required drivers included

No, its fine. I could have "ignored" the thread for a day or 2 whilst reading up (i'm a very slow reader with not much free time!), but that would be very unfair on Nikos.Quote:

The amiga has a hardware and a software limitation for drives/partitions bigger than >4GB.
The amiga 600/1200/4000 IDE port is controlled by scsi.device.
1 To fix the hardware limit: use the scsi.device patch from classicwb.
2 To fix the software limit: Use hdinst.lha from aminet instead of hdtoolbox, with this enhanced hdtoolbox you can make >4GB partitions.
3 load SFS instead of FFS into your harddrive. Set Dostype: 0X53465300 and Mask: 0X7FFFFFFE and Max Transfer: 0X1FE00
4 Make sure your first DH0: partition is <1GB the rest can go >4GB later :) Save and exit.
5 When you have created a SFS partition, you'll have to format it with sfsformat
6 Make sure you copied the command sfsformat to a floppy disk, insert disk and go to Execute command (right mouse button and go to top left of your wb screen)
7 Enter this commandstring: DF0:SFSFormat drive DH0: name Workbench <enter>
8 A few seconds later and you created and named your first SFS partition :)
