thanks gazzy baby!
today i fitted a new ps2 keyboard adapter and this time i actually made the back plate myself, yes real dremel and file usage:D
oh and i stuck my old A1200 sticker on the back, authentic huh
well thanks to Fitzy-poos and johnny-baby, my A1200 now boots:thumbsup:
had some really wierd probs to begin with (I have fixed the problem) here are the symtoms
start amiga, everything would spin up then a black screen then a constant reboot, VERY occaisionally it would boot (say 1 in 20 times), with the rebooting going on it would even boot from floppy:wooha:
anyhoo i sorted that out and then had to start configuring stuff (this is where Johnim and Fitzsteve's help was invaluable!, it is all new to me this mediator stuff)
now i have the miggy booting into 3.9 with the voodoo providing the display and the Radeon giving me some fast ram (131mb fast for now, but plans are afoot to change that)
oh yeah and Doom currently runs between 15 and 20 fps
ps2 keyboard and mouse work a treat.
things to do now are...
1) work out how to get the network card working (should i have a flashing light?)
2) work out how to use the sound card.
3) work out why the mouse works in workbench perfectly but seems to only do direction in games (as in no button presses:Doh:)
once again, thank you to all of you that have helped me so much with this, if not for you guys i'd just have an expensive box of bits:roll::grouphug::inlove::thanks::yourock:
or an itx board for mame/winuae
Great work mate
Will you be bring to replay? :coffee:
depends m8
on if i can suss out the sound card, network card and mouse buttons in game (they work fine in workbench:blased:)
some more piccies to show some progress:)
very nice mate
are you going to have cwb or just 3.9 on it
what res was you testing doom on as mine slows down on anything higher than 320/240
i would advise you to swap the radeon and voodoo over as that voodoo will kill the radeon from heat from the gpu sink and the regulator sink
Whats that coming over the hill, is it a Monster?
No it's Juvvy's A1200T
@ johnim.
just going to run 3.9, i quite enjoy the setting up:)
running doom @ 320/240 as i'm still running the 040 at the moment (waiting for some parts from Keith)
and voodoo/radeon are now duly swapped:thumbsup:
@Fitzsteve
i actually really like that picture with the case lit up:D
thanksQuote:
and voodoo/radeon are now duly swapped:thumbsup:
you played with the sound yet
i first used a jack to 2 phonos for paula passthrough
then used an old cdrom audio lead on aux on the card to 2 phono plugs
exactly how did you link up the sound m8? 3.5mm jack to 2 phonos? so from the sound card to where? then the 2 phonos from the motherboard go to where?
3.5mm jack to 2 phonos?
motherboard out put to the blue input on the card
or
the black conectors on the sb128
http://s5.postimage.org/x6kmdlwg3/DSCF0331.jpg your cards
with a audio cable to a phono connector socket http://s5.postimage.org/z40s8gs1v/DSCF0004.jpg
then use a phono to phono outside
from the above connector to motherboard phonos
i need to make a cable then?
only if you want to use the internal port
just get a phono to 3.5 jack from a pound shop
This is a whole load of awesomeness just longing for a trip to Blackpool!
Looking really good - you just need a PPC card now :D ...sorry could resist :p
Top work :)
It's ok Justin we're all going to chip in and get you an OS4 Netbook for Christmas
hi all,
right then, it's still not finished but with thanks to Amigafanboi for the 64 mb of ram and Stan for the 80mhz crystal and Hikey for doing the 1240 to 1260 upgrade i finally have some real speed:thumbsup: (doom occasionally hits 40fps lol)
also a thank you to the community, thank you all so much for your help and input with this A1200, i couldn't have done it without you guys:grouphug::bounceBoingBall::respect::thanks::yourock:
Nice work mate, now time to pimp out that workbench a bit
He he, give it a try mate, you might actually like it!
Here's some inspiration for ya:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=3013
well finally another update
1st off my fast ATA wouldn't sit in place with my SD/FF so a wee bit of filing and now they sit together beautifully:)
next up, i hated the way i had to remove the whole outer case each time i wanted to get inside my Amiga (fnar), so some measuring and cutting later i now have a removable side panel, much better:thumbsup:
and look, no dongles at the back, everything just plugs straight into the appropriate port (I hate dongles hanging out of the back lol)
see Mike, I do have a real Amiga!!:p
Nice one Justin, you could add a couple of those special hinges they have on aircraft eletronics bays
great stuff mate
the fast ata mkiv was a pig to fit in mine wensday i had to totally strip mine to fit it even mobo
Nice work Justin, looks nice and tidy
Most excellent Ribbits :)
yay!! it is good to have my miggy back:thumbsup:
after spending about 1/2 the price of a new mediator on just the pass through connector it all works again:)
weirdly my FastATA is working quicker than it ever has before as well:huh:
and now it is all working as it should, i'll now put it to one side and not look at it again for about a year:lol:
Glad it's all working for ya bud  sux it cost so much to get the new passthrough though :(
PS, very nice speeds on the FastATA
nice 1 justin
would sfs make it quicker
thanks Steve:)
i was shocked at the pass through cost, but what choice did i have?:(
---------- Post added at 21:35 ---------- Previous post was at 21:34 ----------
lol, it's running at 9mb/s which used to be about 3mb/s so i think i'll leave it be:lol:
did you sort the voodoo out mate
and i noticed the radeon and voodoo are in differnt order, best to have voodoo in bottom due too heat mate
looking good justin :-) nice bit of kit
I thought I had finished this but no, I wanted the front LEDs to work so I got one of these...
http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...roducts_id=718
I want to thank AmigaKit for selling these, they are simple and cheap but perfect!!! well done guys:thumbsup:
so green is power, red is hard drive and blue is floppy drive (nice)
I also hooked up the reset switch to the FastATA (not sure why but it is nice to have the button working)
Great stuff mate i have them in mine using the standard colours
all you need now is a new paint job:whistle:
Are you going to do a step by step guide to make something like yours mate
from scratch
?? it is all stock standard stuff m8, nothing special about it, in fact it is the same as yours except for the case
