mediator help

1st off guys a quick sorry, i haven't been making many comments lately, i haven't yet thanked the people i need to thank, or left feedback where i should have, i will get up to date soon, but i've been flat out here.

now the help i need.

t'is a strange one.

power up the A1200 with the apollo and all is fine, power up the A1200 with just the mediator and it boots fine.

power up with both the apollo and the mediator and either a black screen or when it does boot it reports an 040 but no memory?

any ideas?

Have you set the jumpers correctly?

I don't have the information to hand right now, do you have the printed manual?

That'll be the issue then mate - my Apollo needed a different setting than my Blizzards :thumbsup:

The jumper should be, if I guess correctly...

"MEMORY WINDOW" set to 8MB (or 4MB if you use PCMCIA?)
"CONFIG" should be Closed
"WAIT" should be Open

Off the top of my head you should have a config and one other jumper in addition to memory window - it's the other that you would probably need to change for the CPU compatibility.

have yöu sorted it mate i used a blizzard 1260 with it so the jumpers will need changing for the apollo

It's the 'config' Jumper you want to change, if it's on remove it - if it's off put it on and try again.

Unless you use the PCMCIA slot set the 8mb Memory Window :thumbsup:

I think some PCI Cards also need the WAIT jumper closed, my PCI SATA card does for example.

miggy now boots from HDD and finds a DVD drive on the powerflyer:)

so where do i find the Picasso driver for the mediator? the Picasso i was using 2.1b only lists zorro cards and Prometheus, no mediator or voodoo.

pcinfo shows 4 cards installed in the mediator but i don't seem to be able to use anything.

all advise gratefully received:D

Hi Mate,

Have you installed from the Mediator CD? (run the installer on the CD)

Next download and install the Picasso96 from Aminet, latest package. When installing choose CV64/3D as the Graphics Card.

After the install is done go to Devs:Monitors and rename the CyberVision Monitor file to Voodoo and then right click and choose 'information' and change the tool type from CyberVision to VooDoo

Save that and then run the Picasso96 installer again, this time uncheck all the install options other than 'change monitor settings'

Choose 48khz for LCD's as that will give you the best modes or choose the best setting for your screen.

When that is done reboot.

Now once back in workbench goto Prefs and Picasso96Mode, once the app launches right click and choose Attach to - Board - Voodoo :thumbsup:

Test out some of the settings, save and reboot.

Now in the Screenmode settings screen you should have all the Voodoo modes listed.

You should also run the Mediator Config application and set your envarc settings for Memory Window, Networking, Sound, etc.

Great stuff - typed that from memory lol, shows how many times I have done it :lol:

About the Radeon Ram, I've not done it as I always use Voodoo 3 for Warp3D compatibility :cool:

yes mate you can

update with the 9.7 pci libary

then use Mediator Config to set up the radeon i use 32mb

then resetup with the voodoo i use 8mb

so it displays with the voodoo

i have
96mb from radeon
8mb voodoo
128mb from simms

and its in the prefs was playing last night

320/240 8bit on radeon upto 25fps also use sb128 for sound

quake gets 2-5 on my blizzard1260 slooow

install MM CD UP2.1

copy your voodoo monitor file and rename to radeon and change icon settings too

then run medconfig in above update

click on configuration and report
then proceed

leave on top for the lt4 setup
then proceed

then radeon 64/128
then proceed

i use no pmcia
proceed

memory jumper set to 8mb
proceed

no ppc

yes mmu

gfx selected

radeon mem mines set to 32

then press proceed till finished

if you want to just make the config files manually

use dopus and goto

sys:prefs/env-archive/mediator

and make txt files

radeonmem

and put 32 in the txt file

add -fps in start options

and for adoom

look at icon options

and take the () from the fps option

ok so i have followed this step by step but still no extra ram, what am i doing wrong?

check you have pci library 9.7 in libs

does medication show 2 radeon cards the voodoo, sb128 and nic card

is radeonmem in sys:-Prefs/env-archive/mediator

does picasso96mode show radeon and voodoo and can you test both card screens

run medication program and see if the card is reconised

a voodoo 3
a sound card
and 2 radeons! lololol

give the contacts a clean mate then try again as it was working here mate

no joy in the PC either, well at least i now know why i can't set it up lololol

i got another nic (the Elbox website says this - DFE-530TX tested) and when i turn on the miggy it lights up the LEDs.

Medication finds the card.

but Easynet say it can not open the BSDsocket? and Miami can not find the device to query it?

i'm using the mediator fastEthernet.device. and i think the nic is unit 0.

so what am i doing wrong? anyone?
