Well, I do know not everybody likes to cut down their beloved Miggy's, but as I already own an original A600HD/40 machine, I decided to do something else to my another A600...
The case is a little bit damaged (all the side- and back clips are broken, front grill are damaged etc) I though this is the case I could practise my dremeling... ;-)
First thing I had to get some supplies: leds, switches, aluminium net etc... I cut out the top grill and decided to use that aluminium one there. Maybe...
Then I decided to change all the leds to red ones. The square shaped leds I managed to buy were too high and too fat, so I had to cut and sand them in proper size. The first picture shows the desired length of four leds and one original. I had only five of them, so I shortened them all and picked just the best three of them. Then I soldered old ones out and new leds in place (I'm not going to show you the solderings, because I just suck at it :-D ). The caps lock led was easy, I had to unscrew the bottom plate and bend the legs of the led. (And second time again, because I placed the led in wrong direction :-P .)
Now all the leds work and I have a massive workload ahead. This is my todo-list:
- Cut and install the (aluminium net) front panel (almost done)
- Install decoration lights under the (net) front panel (done)
- Install the hinges at the back (done)
- Find and install a metal plate for power & light switch (done)
- Wash and paint the case (silver hammer paint maybe)
- Buy and install these things:
- Indivision A604 (done)
- Kipper2k's CF-adapter (done)
- Bigger CF with PFS (just because it's possible :-P )
- HxC floppy adapter (work in progress)
- Pico PSU (waiting for installation)
- Ian Stedman's ATX-connector (waiting for installation)
- ACA630
- Indivision ECS
- Subway USB
- WLAN PCMCIA (done)
- Kickstart3.1 (done)
So this is just a start. It's going to be a long project, so I'll keep updating here if anyone is interested... :-O
