Problem with Indivision AGA for A4000: look at the vid

Hello.

I always get troubles when i work on any big box amiga.

My latest problem is on the A4000. When dismounting my zorro boards, my Indivision has pop up from its Lisa chip. It was in place without being removed from the first day i got it several months ago, without any problem.

I have replaced it twice now and i still have an odd problem.
Althought the picture is still perfect, the screen goes black for one second from time to time (every 10 or 20 sec).
I have tried different cables on my screen but i still get the same results. I have flashed the core to the latest 1.22 and no go. I have tried different setup in the setup tool, including the setup that works perfect on the same screen with my A1200 Indivision, and the problem remains with any WB screen, Sysinfo screen or WHDLOAD screen in simple PAL.
The socket did not look damaged.
Now i am tired to mount/dismount the A4000, which is a long operation.

Is there some warranty offered by Individual Computers?

Looks like the pull up resistor mod is needed.

Im sure it was discussed a long time ago over at EAB.

But what if the Indi was working perfect so far?
I may ask my repair man Cosmos to do the hack but would it invalidate the warranty of Individual Computers?

It should'nt if done properly, as Jens posted the mod.

Before going down that route. Have you tried reflashing it, just in case its currupt.
May sound stupid, but I have had some odd issues, fixed by reflashing.

And run the config tool? Tried changing settings there.
Best to cover all bases first.

Yeas i tried everything in the config tool, including the config that works fine on the same screen with my Indi 1200.

Jens from Individual Computers has seen the vid and he says that the Indi is restarting itself every time the screen goes black, probably due to lack of +5V line from the PSU.
I have added lately a big exhaust fan for PCI slots which takes 12V from a molex, so i will remove that first and see what happens.

Hi mate :)

If the Indi has working fine before. It seems to be a bad contact between the socket and the IC.

I'have the same problem before, but is solved cleaning carefully the socket/IC & pulling-out a bit the metal contacts inside the socket. Be carefull or you can damage the socket.

Hence my original reply.
The mod adds another 5v line to the inidvision, if I recall.
Been a year or since I done the last one.

I have just gave it another try today as i am not at work.

I have cleaned the socket, which still looks perfect to me, and no success.

I have removed my new fan, and i still have black screens, though may be a bit less often.

Now, if Jens hypothesis of bad +5V is true (and it is likely to be as i have a Cosmos moded ATX PSU with no resistor hack for the +3,3V line), do you think that the load on the +5V has increased when i removed the A2386 + 2 ISA cards to replace them by an Ariadne and a Catweasel SClass zorro boards? I don't know if those boards eat 12V or 5V.
I have to go to my storage room to look after my genuine (but noisy) A4000 PSU and see if it's any better.
