hi everyone.
can someone tell me how the patch on aminet that patches warp3d4.2 to 4.3b1 . ive read the read me,but cant make any sense of it.:whistle:
the file in question is:-Warp3D_43b1.lha thats on aminet
what im asking for is the cli or shell commands that make the patch work.:unsure:
this was done by cosmos,if you read this cosmos please discribe how it works thanks,as im willing to give it a go.:)
ok ive patched the warp3d.library from 4.2 to 4.3b1 and here are the results:-
in glquake(blitzquake) i get 24-25fps(this is what i had already been getting)this is taken from a clean boot and a soft reset,there was no perfomance increase from what i can see.
quake 2(minigl) i get 12-13 fps(also what i was getting to start out with)also done from a clean boot and soft reset,also no performance increase from what i can see.
the test was done on a 1260 tower 060@100mhz with mediator and voodoo 3 3000.
also bear in mind i have hsmathlibs46"registered" install in a romable form,so the system is already optimised for a fpu perfomance increase.
How did you patch it?

nope,68060 640 by 480 in 16bit same resolution for quake 2(in clickbooms quake which is software only i get around 16fps in 320 by 240 16bit)
How are you benchmarking? I'm tempted to see what my 330mhz BPPC can manage :lol:

in quake two for 68k amigas i type timedemo 1 then hit enter in the console then i hit tab and let it run til it gets to the bit where your charactor dies in the first part, then i hit tab again to stop it and you get a fps score(hit tab just as you die so as to stop it looping)

Some interesting stuff here.
On my A1200T (BPPC 330mhz + Mediator1200SX/Voodoo3)
640x480x16 = 29fps
800x600x16 = 23.8fps
I expected it to be slower than the CSPPC/Prometheous score due to the BPPC Ram bottleneck.
On my A4000T/CSPPC 233mhz
QuakeWOS - 340x240 software rendering - 34.8fps
BlitzQuake68k with CyberVisionPPC (50mhz 060 tested as WOS version not working for me under CVision)
640x480x16 = 11.1fps LOL

Would be interesting to hear your QuakeII Timedemo score, at 640x480x16 on my A4000T I'm getting 13.7fps, thats with 233mhz PPC and 8mb Permedia2 (CVision)
My 240mhz PPC in the A1200T/Mediator/Voodoo 3 was 12.7fps (just found it from an old Youtube vid) I should go and test with the 330 :ninja:

its a slightly different score every time its run,but normaly ts within 1fps from boot to re-boot.try it youll see what i mean.

i dont know if this is relevent but does anyone here overclock there voodoo's?
a stock one runs at 166mhz mines clocked at 200mhz.for the record.
i dont know if it maks a diference as i did this from day one.

that dont sound right steve,you should be getting around 6-7fps at 66mhz

back when I had my first PC I had to over clock the voodoo 2 by a couple of Mhz just so I could get a game to play at a comfortably rate, so I could sorta see that a faster voodoo3 could have dramatic affects

I've never tested this on a prometheous (My A1200 setup is Mediator/Voodoo and my A4k is CybervisionPPC) but you could try full screen in software rendering and then you can change to GL from within the game with the Video options?
Maybe it does not work properlly on Prometheous setups?

Cant get the game to run in fullscrean so this is in windowmode.
The monitor is just flashing 1-2 times and returns me to WB
Can you set to fullscreen inside the game from the 'Video' settings menu? Making sure you choose a supported screen mode first like 640x480 :)Quote:

Just noticed that my first benchmark where in 800x600
So here are som new numbers.
800x600: 14.8FPS
640x480: 20.9FPS

Fullscreen mode is now solved.
The thing is this, when i started the game and the monitor flashed the game actualy started but where put "behind" the WB so i had to press the little button in the top right corner and it all apeard :D
So here are my new resoults.
640x480: 21.9FPS :thumbsup:

if anyone wants to know how to get AHI to work with blitzquake68k the command is "drumroll"........................-AHI
which is set in the tooltypes of the icon.(i worked it out a few months ago, took a bit of working out though,a bit hit and miss)
shame really that the sound ,well just sounds scratchy to be honest i think some coder needs to have a look at it to properly implement the code and give it some optimising.(and maybe a gui front end to set up the options)
the thing is theres alot thats not mentioned in the readme.which is a real shame.
also i think if you set the workbench screenmode bigger then the game supports it falls behind it.resuling in a flashing screen.

im wondering if its taking ram from that first,as that would slow it down some quake can run in 16mb both 1 and 2.
the only reason im mentioning this is because im sure i had problems with a cyberstorm and the motherboard fastram the once in a 4000D.
Just to compare on my A1200T I tested Quake II Timedemo I get 14.7fps with Mediator/Voodoo 3 and 16.2fps with the GREX/Voodoo 3, same BPPC used for both tests :cool:
