I think I have one in storage, but how can I tell if it has hard disk support? Please send me a PM.
Versions P25-41 and P25-42 (4.1 and 4.2 respectively) are for the Amiga 500.
4.2 has hard disk support.
But I am not 100% sure if version 4.1 can *never* support hard disks, or it's just a matter of using the upgraded software of 4.2
Versions P25-44 and P25-45 (4.4 and 4.5 respectively) are for the Amiga 500+ (can also be determined by the absence of onboard RTC, as the A500+ already has one).
No version supports high density floppy drives as far as I know.
Furthermore, the A500 version apparently does not work correctly with a minimega chip installed - only the onboard 512 KB chip RAM is recognised in this case, instead of the expected 2 MB. I am still trying to work around that problem.
It works absolutely fine with the ECS Agnus & 1 MB chip RAM hack, 1 MB chip RAM is recognised correctly, although I think in this case you can't use the extra 512 KB of the KCS as RAM disk, never tried though.
Hold on there, AFAIK there are two versions of the board,
-4.1 with copyright 1986 and V30 8mhz that is reportes to not support hard disks at least using the original software. Board P25-41
-4.2 with copyright 1991 and V30 10mhz that supports HDD and has the P25-42 inscription.
Now i have a question, a friend of mine offered me a KCS that shows the subsequent information. Chip copyright 1986, V30 8mhz, BUT the P25-42 inscription on it. Of course it's not tested and we don't have the software.
What's up with this? Will this board support HDD?
I have a spare P25-42 version...
Eh, that's more or less what I originally said :) You'd have to try the updated software on a 4.1 board and see. I think it should work fine. But since you're given a 4.2, it will definitely support HDs. The 8 vs 10 Mhz V30 won't make the slightest functional difference.
But the 4.1 board is (c) 1990 I think, couldn't have been (c) 1986 as there was no Amiga 500 in 1986. Were you referring to the inscription on the V30s maybe?
Ah, sorry sorry, what's on the sticker is this:
"Compatibility Software c 1985, 1986/A Phoenix Technologies Ltd"
My mistake.
However the board has the P25-42 legend next to the V30, and this V30 is 8mhz.
So i assume what really counts is the fact is P25-42 and not the V30 clock speed neither the different sticker relating compatibility software? :)
Now trying to carry a deal with orb85750.

Had forgotten this thread... got any chance to try the disks mate?
