100Mhz crystal wanted for my Apollo 1240
Hi,
some time ago when i overclocked my Apollo 1240, i was given a 100Mhz crystal to see if the 040 would run at 50Mhz. I did not take the crystal that was offered as i was happy enough with the 040 running at 40Mhz at the time. That was over 10 years ago and now after seeing benchmark results posted on the net and seeing the speed increase that an 040 has to offer running at 50Mhz, i am curios to give it a try. Does anyone have or know of where i can purchase one.
Cheers

Let me help you :-) What is the price in Australia?
here is the datasheet: http://www2.produktinfo.conrad.com/d...or_100_MHz.pdf
just write "OSZILLATOR 100MHZ" on the blank white field (left top) - the search engine called "Schnellsuche".
Re: 100Mhz crystal wanted for my Apollo 1240
In a Schnellsuche (quicksearch) field write "158348 - 62"
But im pretty sure they dont send it abroad :(
Conrad have local office here (conrad.cz), but they dont have it in catalog, bah
Re: 100Mhz crystal wanted for my Apollo 1240
should be no problem. i could buy the stuff in a local store and send them to down under. :)
shipping would be around EUR 6,00.

That would be great Laudrup. :thumbsup2: Can you wait till after Friday to buy the Crystal as i will have to go to the bank at the end of this week to top up my online account that i have connected to paypal so i can transfer the money to your Paypal account.
BTW, this crystal would be safe to use in an Apollo board right??
Re: 100Mhz crystal wanted for my Apollo 1240
wow, nice question. did you figured out, what these crystals costs in down under??? how many do u need?
you should ask one of these apollo owners.... are there any documentations about this 100 Mhz stuff?
Re: 100Mhz crystal wanted for my Apollo 1240
I can't find these type of crystals in Australia. The only 2 places i know that might have had them is Dick Smith Electronics and Jaycar. Neither store have the crystal to suit an Apollo board. :sigh:
I dont know if there is any documentation about 100Mhz crystals on Apollo boards but the Amiga technician that gave me the 80Mhz crystal that is now in the Apollo was going to give me a 100Mhz one but i did not want it as i was happy enough with speed of the card at the time, and just recently i came across an Amiga benchmarking site that compared speeds of the most common accelerator cards for the Amiga. There are benchmark scores for an Apollo 1240 running @40Mhz and one running @50Mhz, and the difference in speed was quite a lot. i am now itching to get hold of a 100Mhz crystal for this reason.
When i asked if this crystal would be safe to use in an Apollo board, i mean ,these crystals are universal right? So they will work on a majority of Amiga boards right?? (system willing and capable that is of the speed on the crystal) Or are these crystals made for a totally different hardware??? Hope you understand what i am trying to say. I know what i want to say, just cannot put it in words that good. :banghead:

Ok, i have no problems to buy this for you. But i cannot tell you, that it works. They should fit in the socket, right? Lets give it a try. How many do you need?
