English, please?
@asm: I have Google translator, mate.
It's to remember people to write in this forum only in English...
Fair point, but I wasn't using Google translator, I actually speak French. If we're going to split hairs, then you mean you want to remind people to write in this forum using English. "Remembering people" is something quite different. But I know what you meant :-)
Pedantic? Perhaps, but I'll forgive you since I'm guessing that being from Brazil, English isn't your first language.
"English Please?" Sounded like you were asking for a translation..... which I gave. Something more appropriate might have been:
"Could we keep all replies in English please ?" (or "Could someone translate this into English please?") - you see my point ? What you wrote can be understood in two different ways.
LTAC posted a link to a French site, and Cosmos IS FRENCH, in fact they both are. Is it really worth jumping on him because he replied once in his own language? I've seen plenty of people do more than once it in here and on EAB - if you're going to do it once then you have to catch everyone every time someone does it.
In practice I know thats not feasible, it would be different if the entire thread was in French. I'm all for people making an effort with their English, but I'm not going to get too excited if someone "lapses" once in a while. I'm not the sort that thinks "OMG! they're hiding something! one!1" if someone replies in their own language...
Beleive me, I'm no language / grammar Nazi nor am I trying to make this personal, If you take it as such then thats your prerogative. I'm merely trying to point out that (as in a lot of languages) what is meant and what is said can often lead to confusion - its not what you say, but how you say it.
I guess this is where I wait and see if I get banned for winding up a Mod and/or the thread gets locked.....
Buena Suerte / Boa Sorte! :grouphug: (and yes that WAS a Google translator job as It has been ages since I've done any Spanish, and I have no knowledge of Portuguese whatsoever )
Andrew
Fair points, no offence taken, now no more thread hijacking, right?
