Amiga HD Floppy Drive (Chinon FB357A)

Hi!

As the title says. I have a Chinon HD Floppy drive for sale. Looking for £30+ P&P

Front is has yellowed but it's working great.

Declaring interest if this drive can be made to fit into an A1200.

Do you know what the difference is between the FZ-357A and the FB-357A?

It wont fit an A1200 (unless it's towered) it is the larger type found in an A4000D

The one you need is the FZ-357a as this the slimline HD version for the 600/1200...

FZ-357A and FB-357A are both Amiga-specific HD drives, the difference is the FZ is 1" tall (slimline) while the FB is 1.6" tall (bulkier). Also I think the FB needs +12V and +5V, the FZ only +5V.
You can remove the front plastic and cut-off a rectangle from the upper-front part of the metal casing to make this FZ-357A fit inside an A1200D. The eject button may not be a perfect match.
A far better solution is to get hold of an FZ-354 drive from an A1200D and swap the internal mechanism for the one from the FZ-357A. You'll need to carefully disassemble the drives though.

EDIT: Mistook this one for the FZ model! Sorry, this will not fit in an A1200 desktop case!
